'06 6MT sedan compare (G35 vs. Maxima)

Hello:

I currently have an '02 Maxima with 6-speed and 166K miles. I'm looking to upgrade to an '05-'06 model, 6 speed of course, looking at either another Maxima or G35.

Comparing apples to apples, is there a huge difference in these two cars besides more power and higher price from the G35? I've driven a newer Maxima before, but not a G35.

Just wondering if the differences are night and day and if I should lean towards one. This is just a daily commuter car, but I love to drive and must have something fun. I know this is an Infiniti forum, but I'm sure there are some previous/current Maxima owners on here.

Thanks!

Get the Infiniti. I absolutely HATE the 04-08 Maximas. Junk

I went from 02 maxima to 05 g35.
Here is what I think in my comparison

Maxima
Heated Steeing wheel
WAY more spacus interior
More useable features(cup holders, centerconsol,)
Huge TRUNK
Lighter car, better gas
Interior is better quality

g35
Handles way better than the maxima
more sporty
RWD
sexy exhaust

Its hard and true for function the maxima is way better, but something about the looks and RWD I traded it all, but damn I sure wish the g had a heated steering wheel/more cusps.useable interior.

The next gen maximas are a joke. I know you wanted to compare the new one, but I feel your old one there are a lot of give and takes switching to the g

Thanks for the replies so far. That's what I'm considering going to, from an '02 Maxima to an '05 G35. I've posted one that I'm looking at under the Buying forum section.

I don't like the latest generation of Maxima's now either. I like the looks of the '05-'06, but would never even consider a newer one than that, since they took the 6-speed option away. BIG MISTAKE by Nissan. I still enjoy shifting gears.

I didn't realize the trunks and interiors were so different on the Infiniti. I guess I need to look at one in person. I've enjoyed my '02 Maxima, but would love something RWD, that handles better, and provides more fun.

Both great cars. G35s are performance oriented. Maximas are gear more for touring. Test drive both models and see which one you prefer.

I went from an 01 Max to an 05 G sedan and wouldn't go back. The G is a superior car in all respects.

Im a huge fan of the 4th 95-99 and 5.5 gen 02-03 Maximas, beautiful cars. When they started building the 6th gen in the US, thats when I started disliking them. The newer 7th gens arent bad, but CVTs suck.

The biggest difference will be RWD vs FWD. The G35 is a true sports sedan, you'll love it.

My sister has a 2011 Maxima, and while the car is nicer than my 04 G as far as materials and build quality are concerned (her car is 7 years newer, so this is what I'd expect), it's tough to get past the FWD aspect. Once you drive a balanced RWD chassis like the G, 3 Series, Audi A, etc. It's really tough to go back to FWD. With that said, if you could care less and your priorities are creature comforts and mileage, then the Maxima is a nice car.

FWD and the interior quality. My i30 had a way better and sorted interior compared to my G.

But the G is more fun to drive and I get better MPG believe it or not. The chassis difference is pretty noticeable. You should test the G and see if you like it.
