Do I need the whole thing or just the bushings?

I'm also pretty sure that's the end link. It's on the lower control arm but the control arm bushings are at the ends that's in the middle

Check for bushings first, you might come across ENERGY or Whiteline's bushing perhaps.

If its your endlinks, these are a pretty common replacement item (I replaced mine at 93k on the front, 40k on the rear). You can buy a new set from the dealer for just under $90.

Replacement is an easy enough job to do yourself if you have a lift, otherwise, its not too expensive to have done at a shop or the dealer.

They endlink operates on a ball joint concept, so the ball moving around inside the assembly with excessive play is probably what you hear.

You can also buy these on Ebay as well from several dealers that host their own Ebay store. Here's the one I just used.

New endlinks front and rear, along with front compression rod bushings are two of the best things you can do to a 1st generation G to restore the feel of the suspension to original specs.

No, the pic is to close up to tell for sure, it's not a control arm bushing since they have a bolt all the way through and are bolted between two chassis brackets. If the other side of that is attached to the sway bar, it's the end link.

No **** it's a lower control arm, the broken part is not part of the control arm so why waste money on a new arm. He needs end links.
BTW great first post!

D3uche the link is part of the control arm and this picture isn't a clear description. Bravo to you sir and your diagnostic capabilities.

Can you estimate the cost to do this? My compression rod bushings are shot and was wondering if I can get it fixed along with the endlinks but needed to know what type of labor costs I was looking at.

I replace my both compression rods this summer. before doing so, I did a lot of research. It's just not worth it to replace the bushings only. The compression rods come with the ball joints so your are killing two birds with one stone. The labor cost is the main issue here. Why spend money to replace only the bushing, then later you have to replace the ball joints?

The total cost for both rods including labor was about $680, not at the dealer.
