Check engine light due to HFCs

Finally happened to me after 5,000 miles. Dammit! I thought i was in the clear, i remember before installing these Berks HFCs on my car i seen that alot of people were getting the "Service engine soon" light right away. The light never popped up until today, I installed them about 6-7 months ago. Whats the reason for the light to go on? Ive been researching and whats been coming up is to get headers (seems like a waste of money, and i dont understand why)? Does anyone know a quick fix for this that isnt too pricey? Thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention that i know its the HFCs because i had it scanned. And the only thing that popped up was the Catalyst code.

It was most likely the P0430 or P0420 codes? Its a toss up with HFC or test pipes, sometimes you can get away with it but most of the time they do eventually throw the CEL. Only way to prevent it is to get some non-foulers or something similar which spaces the sensor away from the exhaust stream and tricks it, or get an uprev tune. Non-fowlers should be less than $10, the tune $300 plus.. but you'll also have the benefit of having your car run 100x better and actually optimized for the mods. You can bolt on all the parts you want, but often end up losing power due to the ecu not being setup to take advantage of them

Yeah ive been looking around and see that alot of people with this problem are going the non-fouler route. The uprev tune would be nice but its too pricey. Thanks for your advice!

Usually happens down the road because the sensors get dirty since there isn't as much of a filter.

You can normally get some steel wool and put it in the sensor bung and it often tricks the sensors into thinking it's clean.

The tune would be worth the money. Car runs so much better. Might turn off your light too

Its actually not, people drop $1000+ on a pretty exhaust all the time but balk at spending $450 on a proper tune that not only maximizes the performance but increases the longevity of the car... plus as long as you have the Uprev cable you can always resell it later on for most of what you paid for it... More like renting than buying.

This does work to keep the CEL off in many cases but from a tuning standpoint and whats good for your car really screws things up.. the ECU relies on the feedback from the O2 sensors to constantly adjust the fuel mixture and doing this causes a false reading which can cause you all kinds of problems in the future.

Many times the light is just on because the sensors are detecting something outside the ecu's "normal operating parameters", not because the cars running wrong. But having the CEL on causes it to run in a form of pseudo limp mode and ruin all your performance... which is why we just deactivate the CEL using Osiris.

Thousands of tuned cars so far, not a single person that didn't think it was worthwhile to the best of my knowledge. Like I said before, you can get it done for as little as $300 out the door. PM me and I'll fill you in on the details if interested.
