Car Accelerating by Itself After Cold Start?

Whenever I start the car cold, it accelerates by itself when I get into gear (its a standard). To further clarify, it'll start with a high idle like it usually does in the cold. It has no problem getting down to 600-700 idle RPM's, but when I put it into gear and take off at a cold start, the car will just keep moving forward with no RPM drop when my foot is off the pedal. If I brake, the engine fights against my brakes and the engine surges when I put the clutch in. After 5 minutes it'll be absolutely fine though. It's really strange and I've been feeling a loss in power (but that could just be my paranoia) lately. Im thinking dirty TB?

I notice this on mine too. Cold start just has a higher idle to warm the car up faster. Higher idle will try and push the car forward more.

However, hard to judge if yours is like mine...or far more excessive...without being there and seeing what it does firsthand.

Sounds like you need to let the car warm up longer, the Idle maps switch when the coolant gets to operating temp (80 deg C). There are a bunch of different idle settings when you look at the map, I haven't taken the time to see what all the variables are yet. Usually a dirty TB causes the car to stall not surge.

Why would it fight against the brakes and as soon as I let off the clutch, the car jerks harshly and the RPM's shoot up?

I notice this on my manual, I don't have to give the car any gas to rev-match on an up shift when switching gears while it's warming up..

Is getting into second very difficult for you when it's really cold out? I find myself rolling to a stop because I can't shift its so god damn cold :/

My car does the same thing when its cold and its revving higher to warm its self up. I put that thing in first and she takes off down the street like it has a mind of its own. Hell I can get into second gear without ever needing to give it gas lol.

The car will attempt to stay at 1100-1200 rpms until it is past the batch fire. It will slow then go down as the temp rises.

Sounds like you need to extend your warm up time some
