Shifting Noob!

Is it ok to shift without the clutch pedal, if you in the right rpm range?

I did it a few times felt kind of smooth.

Thanks.

You definitely shouldn't be driving a manual transmission car if you asked this question.

You should be fine as long as the gear goes in without grinding.

Sure it can be done with practice, however how many times are you going to grind gears before you're looking at replacing the trans? Nissan supplied you with a clutch....use it!

i would not recommend this beceause as most of us know we have weaker synchros as it is in pre 009 transmissions so i wouldnt risk the extra wear and tear on the trans

Use the clutch!

However, it can be done as I used to do it all the time in my Mustang. The thing was before it could do any real damage I used to blow the transmission up (Drag tires + clutch dump with 300+ ft-lbs torque = boom).

Yes, if you get good at it it could be done without much damage, but the clutch is there for a reason

would doing this damage the gear lock mechanism? im assuming u have to shift quite hard to get it out of gear without the clutch. I don't ever plan on doing this was jus wondering

I didn't even know u could do this lol its like finding out santa doesn't exist. would this be a ghetto alternative to not replacing clipping clutches? for reals lol

Switching the gears is relatively easy. Just have to be in the proper rpm band.

Fyi clutch pedal are for people who cant time their shifts.
