VDC light..is it on when I turn it off for RWD?

I rarely use VDC off. Nonetheless;

I have a 2005 5atx. I thought if I turned the VDC off, the light on my dash was supposed to light up?

I've tried turning VDC off a few times, with no response from the throttle or torque, and no lights on dash either.

Anyone?

when you press the VDC button, it should light up on your dash telling you it's turned off.

I have a 2006 G35x and the dash light definitely comes on when you switch off the VDC.

When you turn the key to the ON position, but don't start the car, does it light up?

You should be able to break the wheels free much more easily if the VDC is truly off. Go around some turns and get on it a little. See what happens.

No. I get the 3 in the rpm and 2 red on the left but all go off when I start the car.

I ask this as a new G35x owner that is still "feeling her out" and hasn't yet tried VDC off: would this be true for the AWD sedans (which is what I believe the OP has)?

Ok, i don;'t know what those other lights are, but pretty sure the VDC OFF light should turn on during gauge test when you turn the key to on.

Kinda tells me the bulb is burned out. Hard to get those bulbs however.

It defaults to ON when you start the car. 1 press will turn it off

It's a little harder to do because the AWD system still functions with the VDC off. Get on it hard in a corner and slide the rear a bit and more power gets sent to the fronts which quickly dulls the fun. Nowadays, i only turn the VDC off in the snow when trying to parallel park into a snowbank.

I seen somewhere on this forum that wire switching the abs module could make the X models to become RWD instead of AWD. And for even more output, putting a switch on the yaw sensor in center console would disable even more. Never tried though, only read from forum.

Yanking the AWD fuse will do this. Basically the Xfer case is electronically controlled. By applying power, you can control how much the clutches grab. Yanking the fuse will kill the power causing the xfer case to remain "open"

However, this isn't an official way to make your AWD car now RWD. I'm not going to personally suggest trying this.

Ok so I looked in the driver side fuse box and seems all the fuses are there. I will test the all in the next day or two. I did notice a single gray wire running from beside the footbrake to the fuse panel was just dangling loose. I didn't pull it, but could be part of the time you problem. I wonder where it's supposed to go... I'll take a picture with my phone this PM and hopefully post it.

To make myself clear re: wire -. I opened the fusebox and the wire was exposed, hanging there. I traced it upwards, behind all the plastic and couldn't trace it further then the footbrake.
