2003 G35 sedan (Production year 2002) CAI DOESN'T FIT???

I've been doing a ton of research on the forums and the web to find out why my mechanic says that No aftermarket CAI will fit with my sedan.

I have looked EVERYWHERE and i can't see why it won't fit.

He says the censor is in the way and the tube is too long.

Has anyone even heard of this before?

It was a AEH stage 2 CAI for G35 2003 sedans.

All replies are appreciated. This is my first post so if this is the wrong section please let me know!

The only thing that can pose issue is the Maf sensor is different on the early sedans, but nonetheless any sedan CAI should fit and work fine, since you typically install you maf into the aftermarket intake anyway. I never heard of an AEH intake though We have members he with 2002 sedans with intakes that work fine. Stick to a known name like Injen, takeda, and so on those I can tell you fit for sure.

AFE sorry. And do you recommend just taking it to a different location then?

I mean if this is the case, then what is the reason they are putting the old one back in and not charging me a penny? Is it labor intensive for them to install this? I've looked at several DIY's and it didn't seem that long..

You can't install the MAF from an early year sedan into most aftermarket intakes. Most don't have the round opening needed for the MAF to fit into it. Outside of Fujita (they use to make one), I don't know of any other intakes that are plug and play. It's been a long time since I've looked though too

Example (intakes are not for G35, just examples)

This is what most of the G's MAF opening looks like

2003 Sedans (I don't remember if early year coupes share the same design)

Ah so it's not plug and play so it was the MAF giving an issue so you have to look for a round maf intake.

So it ended up being the maf sensor that was in the way just like you said. The guys at the shop were really good and custom built me a pipe so that it fit my sensor. I absolutely love the sound and i thank you for your answers.

I can post pictures up sometime this week to show how it was mounted. Such a weird problem to have when every single other g 35 made after Jan 2003 fit aftermarket CAI's.
