Whining humming sounds
I have posted a video of someone elses that shows the same sound.
I thought it was a power steering because my the previous owner had put in power steering fluid before selling it to me when they should have used tranny fluid. Since then the sound is still happening....This sound also tends to happen after driving for a little bit and then immideiately shuts off when i turn the car off and when i turn it back on right away the sound is gone. Any help would be greatly appreciated

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
Check the fluid level in the reservoir tank.
The fluid level should be checked using
the HOT range at fluid temperatures of
122 to 176°F (50 to 80°C) or using the
COLD range at fluid temperatures of 32 to
86°F (0 to 30°C).
CAUTION
Do not overfill.
Use Genuine NISSAN PSF or equivalent.
Of course PSF refers to power steering fluid, my suggestion is to replace the fluid with PSF. Once you get the appropriate amount of fluid in the system, with the car on and in park, turn the steering wheel side to side as far as it will go 15-20 times. Often, this will purge any air in the system and get rid of the whine if the PS system is the cause of your noise. If the noise still persists, take the car out for a short drive to really heat up the fkuid, take it back to the house, and repeat the side to side action.
Good luck with your fix and let us know if it gets taken care of.

Who told you that tranny fluid needed to be used here? This is straight from my owner's manual:

I used dexron 3, sorry I should have specified. I flushed it completeyl 3 times and it didn't make a difference. I went to Canadian tire and they said it was the alternator making the sound and then nissan said it had to do with the timing chain.

Have you isolated the problem? Keep me posted! I can't handle this sound any more.

Your belts are wearing down and need replacing soon. I would order the replacement kit from Z1 with the idler pulley delete.

My car just started making the same noise
What is this noise coming from? Strange noise coming from engine. You can tell the noise is more pronounced when the camera is moved towards the front wheel well. You can hear it from each wheel well, sounds like it is coming from under the car. Happens at idle after revving the engine a little bit. What is this noise coming from?
