G35 Big Brother wins!

Hi guys,
just read on MT the M35 beats the competition on a test. BMW 530, Audi A6, Jaguar S-type, Cadillac CTS & Acura RL.
It was the fastest 0:60 = 6.3 sec and 14.8 1/4 mile. Weighs 3790 lbs. Has the same engine as the G35 and I guess same transmission. This sets the G (3480 lbs) to do the 0:60 in 6 sec and the 1/4 mile in 14.5 sec.
By the way other things like handling and interior quality and ergonomics played a significant role in the outcome as well.

yeah i read that also. very good article. the RL came in a very close second IIRC. very nice car also. i would've rather taken the awd version of the m35 though. that's just my opinion cause i live in MN.

Just for fun you should head over to the roadfly 5-series forum at bimmer.org. The article was posted and discussed there last week. I don't think I've enjoyed a thread quite as much as that one for a long time. It was a veritable feeding frenzy. Basically, the only way half of them could justify their 5-series purchase was "status" and they constantly tried to degrade those who purchase Infiniti's by saying they could not afford to buy the BMW or they would have. What a joke.

The best, though, is the one guy who insists the G and M are based on the Altima and Maxima respectively. The junk he spewed was just hilarious.

Why bother wasting you time. Just rock them light to light or on the highway. I loving killing bimmers over any other car yes even Mustangs. 330s and e36 m3 are nice kills. Looking forward to running a 540 in my 6spd sedan.

Love the new M. For clarification, the M35 automatic transmission is different than the one used in the G35. The automatic in the M35 is geared more aggressively than the G.

For those interested, the finishing order was:

6th: Jaguar S-Type 3.0
5th: Cadillac STS V6
4th: Audi A6 3.2 Quattro
3rd: BMW 530i (the only car w/ manual & the sport package)
2nd: Acura RL
1st: Infiniti M35

Good work Infiniti!

Not only did I read the thread on the 5 series board on Roadfly, I was one of the participants (MFrank) who defended the Japanese cars. My last 2 cars were BMWs and I really wanted to get the new 5 series, but I can't stand the style, nor the interior controls or the new 5. In addition, the 530 is 50k for 225 hp. BMW better wake up as the competition is gaining fast. They lost me as a customer because for 35K I get 73 extra hp, better style, better reliability and keep 15K in my pocket.

Reading that BMW board was hilarious! BMW's are flat-out ripoffs!

Infiniti is taking over. Before long, I think Infiniti is going to own the luxury-performance segment. They are besting everyone in their respective ranges. FX, G and M now edge-out all the BMW offerings in the same segment for much less cash and with much greater reliability. I'd really like to see what they can do with the next-generation Q. The current is pretty awesome, but needs a little refresh, especially styling-wise. I hope those BMW owners are happy with their prestige. I'll just be happy with having the best car, regardless of price.

The only thing Infiniti lacks now is aftermarket like Bimmer's M-series, Audi RS*, etc. I've heard Lexus is considering going this route. It would have to be a good deal since I'm sure people would be a bit weirded out spending $90K for a Japanese monster, no matter how good it is.

Hats off to Acura for coming close. I'm sure the typical Acura driver will love the car.

Good Luck with that. Those 540's are not slow and deff Faster then your 6 speed. P.S. Hope you dont run into a late model 540i 6 speed as those were avaliable with the BMW sport Package which included The M5 Rear end a M LSD,and also a different Final drive ratio.

OK, so there is one 540 which is debadged. Most people who debadge don't want everyone to know they have a 325 (easy spot) or a 525 (you can spot the wheels a mile away). I wouldn't even bat an eye at someone who debadges - almost always have something to hide. I think this is the dumbest mod I've ever seen.

im sorry that you think its dumb. some people like it some people dont. i think it looks good on some cars. especially black cars. i saw a g35 coupe once in black with 5%tints and it was completly debadged. i think it looked real sharp.

but yes i do see 325's all the time that are debadged but i have also seen 330's debadged. so they are not always trying to hide something.
