80 in a 40 zone

At 8pm tonight I was crusing down a fairly main road when a RSX Type-S pulls up next to me and gives me the look. With the tiptronic I downshift the car into 2nd gear and floor it. We are neck and neck until about 65 mph when i start to inch ahead. He let me go once i was about a car lengh ahead, I continuted going down the street fairly quickly and am about to turn onto the street I live on when I see lights go up behind me. ohh ****. I pulled onto my street pulled over and put the car in park. A women cop walks up to me and asks me if I had any idea how fast I was going. I told her I had no idea.she told me at least 80 in a 40. then she asked me if i was racing that guy next to me and i told her i had no idea what she was talking about. I asked her if i could see the radar gun and she told me she was on a side street at a red light when I flew past her. I told her that there was no way I was going 80mph and she gave me this speech on how she has been a cop for 15 years and knows what 80mph looks like. She went back to her car came back 5 minutes later and handed me my ticket. Like that wasn't bad enough she tells me that she is going to follow me home to talk to my parents. (im 18 years old). she walks into my house and tells my dad what happen. then she tells him that my car is too fast for me and i dont know how to drive at those speeds.

stupid dike cop ruined my night and quite possibly casued more problems than she thought. I am still on probation from a previous ticket i recieved in June where i got a 2 month lisence suspension. from what i understand if im convicted i can loose my lisence for 6 months and deal with insurance spikes.

im so heated, i wish i never wasted my time with that damn acura! at least it was a good run.

You definitely deserved that ticket. As far as her going to your house and talking to your parents...if that's true, it's going WAY too far in my opinion. You are an adult so technically the ticket is yours to deal with. As far as bashing the cop, she was just doing her job (the ticket part anyway). If you are going to drive fast you have to expect you will get pulled over for it.

If you use the search function re: tickets ... you'll find there are few people that offer sympathy for excessive speeding or racing.

You're in serious legal trouble. Don't post anything regarding this incident on the internet. You'll just compromise your legal defense, as it is hard to retract what you post.

I'm sorry for you. Good luck with getting a good attorney. Because you're young, this experience will be painful but not terminal. I hope you've got deep pockets for car insurance. That's got to be expensive in NY.

But damn! What were you thinking? Racing on a probationary license? Nothing like living for the moment.

SLOW DOWN. and Don't street race!!!

If ya wanna race, take it to the drag strip. $20 gets you at least 3 runs. And it's legal!

That's very debatable. From how that reads, he needs to be educated a little more in life as well as the English language before I'd consider him smart enough to make his own decisions.

We're sorry for your inconvenience MrBillMartin, but in life there are consequences for every action. Some of them are positive and some are negative. Every time you street race you have to understand there is a possibility of getting a ticket, losing your license, or losing a life; yours or someone elses.

What you need to do next is take the consequences like an adult and maybe take a lesson from the whole experience. You are now a more experienced driver and hopefully when you get your license back you'll use that to your benefit.

Oh and when you lose your license and have no need for your car any more, I'll buy the plenum from you. How's that? It could help to pay for a couple bus tickets or taxi rides to/from work/school.

I guess that's why they use the term "dumb kid" and when you grow up and experience life you will also look back and say I was a dumb kid. But it ain't cute nor funny as you could have killed someone including yourself. Kudos to the officer!

NICE! The first time I got pulled over, the cop called my dad, i was 17. Even the 3-4 tickets I got before i turned 18, they never called again. Just remember you will get **** in the mail fom lawyers so if your ever gunna hide it from our parents check the mail. Hope your dad doesnt take the car away! I'd be pissed!

I'm kinda confused as to why they didn't rip you out of the car, handcuff you and arrest you for reckless driving.

You should definitely be counting your blessings; seems the cop cut you a break. I'm guessing that you had one of those "I know the police" stickers that everyone in NY seems to have.

Alleged Street Racers Hit Innocent Driver
Crash Victims Remain In Hospital

POSTED: 8:46 am PST January 31, 2005

LA MESA, Calif. -- Two suspected street racers and an innocent driver are in the hospital after a crash, 10News reported.

The crash occurred Saturday night at Fletcher Parkway and Amaya Drive in La Mesa.

A 33-year-old man was turning left when the alleged racer ran a red light and hit him. The victim suffered head injuries and is in a coma.

The 17-year-old suspected racer and his 16-year-old passenger were seriously hurt.

The crash comes after legal races at Qualcomm Stadium recently ended because of lack of funding.

"They will be out on the street, so they're not only putting themselves at risk, but it's your
family, it's my family, everybody is at risk. We don't know what street they're going to choose,
but do know they're going to choose one," racelegal.com spokeswoman Lydia Denecochea said.

The other cars involved in the alleged race drove away.

If you have any information, please call La Mesa Police.
