A/C. vs A/C_ECON

Has anyone determined the difference between the two aC modes? There normal aC and aC Econ mode. What's the dofference in programming logic?

I understand Econ refers to "economy" bit what does the system do different vs normal aC mode?

I've driven with both modes for a while, and noticed no difference. Both blow air at 40 degrees out of the registers on 90 degree days. Can't tell difference in fuel economy.

I run aC Econ only though

In AC mode, the compressor runs all the time and warm air is mixed with the cold to get the set temp. In ECON, the compressor cuts off when the temp is reached. IN THEORY, it gets better mileage that way, but I can't see a difference.

I've noticed that I normally can't recirculate air in Econ mode unless its very hot outside and the cabin needs to cool down. Normal ac mode you can always choose to recirculate.

Infiniti actually replied to me when I asked about this on Twitter a while ago, let me see if I can find the link.

Found it!

What exactly does the ECON A/C button do? Or is it just a placebo? Technical answer please.. @InfinitiGlobal @NissanNews (06 G)

Hi! Econ A/C reduces some load to engine to improve the fuel economy.
Continued: It modifies the A/C system cycle parameters to allow for higher humidity than normal operation.
Hope that helps! Happy Friday!

Living in FL i can tell the difference between the two modes. In ECON mode i notice the compressor cut off more when the set temperature is reached. In normal mode the compressor stays on and the fan just spools down. I usually leave it in ECON mode as it really doesn't matter as they both operate the same when i get into my car after work and it says it's 102 on the dash.

Interested to see the humidity differences with a meter. Good Luck!

The fuel economy of my car is so bad. I doubt it would make any difference in the Econ mode! That being said, I have about 112K on my car and the AC is as good as day one!!!

Heat and humidity have dropped locally today...so I might need to wait a day or two when 90's returns in order to test.

I notice no difference in fuel economy, and AC_ECON is more than enough to freeze me out on highway driving even on a 90 degree day. Easily one of the best A/C systems of any car i've been in

Higher humidity than normal, would you be able to tell a difference when both setting get ICE cold anyway?

Yes , if the compressor runs all the time, humidity will be less.

Well, found out the meter is 110V.

I don't have an inverter and unless i can find 200 feet of extension cord, won;t be able to do this

When first getting into the car, both settings do come on full blast to cool down the car. I've noticed on a long drive the extra mugginess (humidity) when using ECON mode. It's more noticeable if you raise the temp setting though. So if I set temp to 75 on a really hot day, the extra humidity is way more noticeable with ECON than if I set the temp to 70, since it has to work extra hard to keep the car at that temp anyway.
