Need help with this window problem

I've searched all over the internet for a solution to my problem, but every one is having the exact opposite of my problem.

It started happening about 3 days ago. I sit in the car, turn off the ignition (with my windows down), and about 3-5 seconds ALL the windows roll up. Now, this has never happened to me before. I was able to leave my car with the windows cracked as you should on these scorching hot summer days. But now I can't do that. And another problem I'm having is when I use the key fob to roll down the windows as I walk to the car (Press and Hold the unlock button), they roll down but roll back up within 3-5 seconds. Does anyone have a solution to this? It's driving me up the walls!

Try doing the window reset procedure? Search for that.

Is your key hole in the door jammed in the lock position?

Autoroll up on all 4 windows is usually accomplished by putting the key in the door on the drivers side and turning the key to lock and holding it. You can also roll all 4 down by putting the key to unlock and holding it.

I've seen the window reset procedure, but was wondering if there was another solution to this before I go pulling the door panel. It stopped for a day or so, and I noticed after it rained it started acting up again. Could it be that water is leaking inside the panel and shorting the motor? Because I'm thinking I might have to replace the window motor.

Any help? After the 30 second interval where your accessories work before opening the door makes the widows roll up automatically. So once the 30 seconds expire the windows roll up and whenever I open the door.

Did you try Mustangs advice? Seems like a plausible issue/solution.

It's not the auto roll up feature, because it never worked to begin with. I'm literally out of ideas when it comes to this issue.

If it didn't work to begin with, doesn't that indicate there is a problem? If you haven't diagnosed this problem then how can you rule out whether or not it is related to your current issue.

Don't be afraid to do something twice or look into something you've already ruled out. Assuming this is an electrical issue, they can be very difficult and elusive to diagnose/repair.

I don't think it's the "window reset" thing because it's all 4 windows.

I would suspect the electrical switch component of the driver's door key cylinder. As Mustang said holding the door key in "lock" position tells the system to do auto-rollup. Don't know what year your car is but in '05/'06 the Power Window Main Switch in the driver's door contains a processor (one of our many black boxes) and I believe the auto-rollup/down signal comes from there.

So the cause of your problem may be inside the driver's door and the most likely suspect is the switch part of your door lock (possibly shorting in the "lock" position). Second choice would be the Power Window Main Switch itself. Make sense?

Good luck.
