Roof Molding Removal for Overlay

Hello,
I have an 05 Sedan and wanted to remove the roof molding on the sides to install the vinyl roof overlay. Does anyone have any experience removing these and putting them back on? It feels like once I remove them, I will need to buy new pieces as they feel very flimsy. I have no idea how I would put them back on if I removed them. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From what I've heard and seen it may be easier to just tuck it in under the molding for a roof overlay rather than to remove and reinstall. I've been considering this for a while too, but from what I saw and learned you can use a thin card or something to tuck it in. I could be wrong as I am pretty new to modding/overlays etc. but that is what I gathered from my research.

Here's the service manual page explaining the trim pieces. Seems a bit complicated and involves "double-faced adhesive"... Tucking in might be simpler but wait for an answer from somebody here who knows about overlays. (Not me!)

Thanks all for the inputs. I did take a look at the service manual pics. I cannot differentiate the two pics (left & center) in the middle of the page. It looks like the same molding but the clip and fastener are missing in the pic on the left. I would like to see if anyone has actual pics of how the roof side moldings are held. Thanks again!
