excessive noise from road debris

Hi everyone, I'm new here, just over from clubg35 RIP

anyway, I have an 05 5AT Sedan, and I was just wondering if it's normal for the car to have lots and lots of noise from rocks hitting the wheel-wells/fenders

Cause I've been in a lot of cars, and I have never heard noise as loud as in my G

Living in Vancouver, Canada, we have crappy roads (especially cause of the snowstorm last month), but even on some of the decent roads here, I get lots of noise sounds like small pebbles, gravel, rocks, w/e hitting the wheel-wells.

is this normal for the G?

It gets worse when you slap on some sticky tires like the Eagle F1-GSD3's. I swear I get home and I've brought half the highway with me

so it's simply because of the 18 inch summer tires from the sports pack?

You are knee deep in tread with those new tires--they catch pebbles and then fling them off your tire spinning at 70mph or whatever into your wheel well--normal. Find some better roads--or put some slicks on.

It is normal to hear water splash in the rain as well.

It's normal, I've noticed the same thing.

I have an 05 6MT and noticed the same thing. The road debris that hits the wheel well seems sort of louder than usual. Sound like this is normal for the G but compared to my previous cars (accord and integra), its quite a bit louder.

It's all good tho. I just turn the music up louder!

It does sometimes sound like I'm encased in a timpani instrument when road debris hits. I more frequently notice it at highway speeds, though, not at 30-45 cruising on busier roads. Makes some sense.
