Unhappy Squeaky engine belts

Today I notice my engine belts squeaks on idle but not on the road. Has anyone encountered this? Is this common? Thanks. I currently have 15.6k miles on it.

Yes! I took it in to dealer--at first they made the sound worse--it made the sound on the road now--whereas before it was only at idle. It went in the next day and they installed a 2004 AC compressor kit per ITB 02056B and an R134A retrofit kit--parts. Just reading whats on my invoice. It took care of the problem for good. I had only 23Kmi at that point. Hope that helps.

Are you taking it in, or waiting it out for now?

I just used some Pyroil belt dressing, squeaks are now gone, hopefully squeaks wont come back for now. Was those replaced parts covered by warranty? Was the parts had to be ordered by the dealership? Thanks

Yes, they were covered by warranty. They had the part in stock as far as I know. I did not have to wait for them to come in or anything. If the dressing wears off--keep that in mind.

Yes, mine started doing it at about 27k just in the morning at idle. I took it in for new brake rotors and they replaced both belts for free. The explaination was they had seen this before and was possibly due to a glaze buildup on the belts. Hopefully the new ones won't do this!
Thanks,
Brian

Mine does it too with 23K. I have all the typical TSBs that need to be done so I'm just going to drop her off and have them go to town.

1) Bose rattle
2) Driver's seat moves around
3) Belt squeak
4) Convince them to do the TCM update

Mine did it after I drove it thru high water (not too high). Belt dressing did
not help at all, just quited it down for a short time. I ended up getting new
belts, at my expense of course.

Never use belt dressing, from my experience, it makes it worse, plus tends to "gum" up the pulley's, then can contaminate the new belt.

Agreed. The dealer applied it the first time. I saw him do it, it did quiet down.
When it came back, I bought some of my own. It just does not work over the
long haul.

I'm taking it in on Wedsday morning. Now I can't prove the squeaks due to "already applied my own belt dressing."

Cato, What was the total cost?

So far I took my G in yesturday, Infiniti service say the list of parts from the forum was useful (thanks to Texan1). The parts had to be ordered from the mainland and my G wont be done til early Friday.

Mine started squeaking around 27K. I thought it was due to the cold weather here in Chicago...either way, the dealer replaced the fan belt free under warranty. Squeaks are gone.

Mine started at 25k and I have taken it twice but they have not changed the belts and I think putting dressign on it.

The sounds come when the car is cold and seems to be from the compressor belt. You can hear it under the engine noise at idle. I have not been able ot get the dealer to change it as I had already mentioned the TSB on it. I think next time I will give them really low marks on the survey.

Everyone else have same symptoms?

Could not find the invoice for the belts swap. I think it was around $100
for all belts. I just had the wife's Maxima belts replaced. It was around $130
for all belts to be replaced. Of course the Max has around 75K miles.
