G35 vs. S2000
Personally I think that although the S2K may be faster on paper, it’s a driver’s race if both cars are stock. This is from personal experience: I have a 03.5 AT G35S and the hubby has a 02 S2K and both times we’ve raced I won. Of course, he’s itching for a supercharger, so eventually he’s going to stomp me.
I caught up to an S2000 on a hill. He saw me coming and sped up but I downshifted and blew by him with no prob. I assumed he couldn't get the rev's high enough to get any hp out of his engine. I slowed down on the down-hill and he raced by me -- I looked at him but he stared straight ahead.
Two weeks before, an S2000 pulled into the curb lane at a light intending to pass me on the inside -- I floored it and we stayed even so he had to brake in order to get back in trafffic.
Both times I had two people in my car.

S2000's are suppose to hit 14.0 1/4 mile..and a lot of the drivers dont know how to launch off the line...u have to rev the engine to around 7K RMPs to get off the line..since it only has around 160 ft lb torque....S2000 will definetly win from a dead stop with the right driver..But on the freeway i think a G35 would win
G is going to win unless you are in the twisties. On a straight road...G should win. I went for a test ride in the S2000 with a salesman at Carmax. I told him I really was not interested in the Honda but he loved it. He asked if I wasnted to go for a drive with him. Sure...why not. Let me tell you, this kids beat the livin **** out of the S2000.It was screamin as he needed the revs high. It road hard as nails, had a bad rattle and ...I DON"T WANT ONE.
From experience, I had an '00 S2000 (the 6,656 car brought to the US), I have to honestly say that the S2000 is quicker from a stop and a roll than my 6MT sedan -- if the S2000 is driven properly.
Driving an S2000 properly means driving it like you stole it. From a roll, the revs need to stay above 6500 rpm. From a dead stop, you have to drop the clutch with at least 5000 rpms on the tach.
If the driver is not paying attention to the tach, embarassing things can happen. I had a Geo Metro get the jump on me, from a dead stop, because i wasn't expecting it (I don't remember the circumstances) and it took me a couple of seconds to catch up. I never had any problems on the freeway though. I just made sure the revs were above 6500 when I needed to move.
I guess ultimately it's a driver's race. However, in the 2.5 years I had my car, I got to know it very well and how to drive it properly. I never tired of the hard ride and loud noises (I also had a Comptech exhaust). If you like sport bikes, or even F1 cars, you'll love the S2000.
In the twisties, a G (coupe or sedan) wouldn't keep up. I love my G though!

Fireball is right.....if you drive the S2000 like you stole it, then it would take the G out of the hole.
However, those cars ride rough. They make the G with the sport suspension feel like a Buick. Definite kidney crusher.

The S2000 has to be one of the purest sports cars on the market right now. By that I mean it's stripped of non-essentials, very purpose-built, and focused on driving pleasure. Other cars with similar missions are the Elise and Viper. Both are very pure forms of what real sports cars should be.

I raced with Rob_G35's s2000 from 40 to 80 we were dead even all the time.
But off the line i think G is faster unless you abuse the s2000, like someone mentioned dropping the clutch at 5000-6000 rpm.

How do u guys think an auto sedan or coupe would do against an S2000? Since I guess both the 4dr and coupe almost have identical 0-60s.
