Question for any accord owners out there...

Hey guys,

Ignore this post if you don't want to read it but no one at the honda forums answers to my post so maybe you guys who owned an accord before might know my sympton. My 92 accord is not behaving lately. For the past month, on and off when I drive it. Usually in the beginning few mins its fine. Then at I would say 5 mins into driving all of a sudden when I gas it, it won't go above 30mph in any gears and then the engine chokes and the rpm/speedometer goes no where. Then I just let go of gas let it glide for a bit and give it a minute and then the problem goes away. I thought it might be dirty fuel injector and my mechanic said "fuel injector either works or it doesn't work" if you can drive it afterward then it's fine. He did a tune up for me instead today (cost me $300 bucks...includes spark plugs, oil change, the rotoray cap or whatever it's call, drain antifreeze, etc etc). Which I think cost alot for my 92 accord. But after I took the car home and when I drove it at night it HAPPENED AGAIN. Gas it and engine chokes at 30mph and wouldn't go anywhere for 1 min and then the rest of my 1+ trip was fine. I am so confused.

Did you check your O2 sensors? I had the same problem with my 97 Accord before and after replacing my O2 sensor the problem went away.

I am not mechanic myself but I have no idea where the 02 sensor is nor do I know how to check it. Maybe I'll bring it up to my mechanic. What yr is your accord? As far as I know the 02 sensor was never replaced. How much is it to replace it?

Have you thought of taking it to the Dealership? What about a computer reset?

I don't know I qualify as an accord owner but I did have a 89 legend for 10 years. Now, the problem you're describing never happened on my legend but they sound similar to a problem on an earlier car. First the mechanic thought it was the fuel filter and was later traced to the catalytic converter. Replacing the cat fixed the problem. Good luck!
