Just stopped by midas in my town to get one tire switched that I had already brought to them, some fi HFC, grounding kit and they tried charging me 3 hours for $300, there's no way it takes that long, or am I wrong?

Yes it is slightly higher than it should have been, no you were not over billed. That is why you always get a written quote BEFORE you have any work done. After the work is done, it is too late to ask quesitons.

"Tried" as in you didn't pay them and they still have your car? It could easily take 3 hours to remove and replace cats and install a grounding kit, especially if it was a techs first time installing the grounding kit, I would assume Midas doesn't get a lot of that type of work.

Lol no I didn't take my car back without paying them, that would've been hilarious tho, I only got an estimate. I've asked a handful of places and I could barely find two that know anything about grounding kits or torque damper install.

I installed my grounding kit while on break at work, depending on what kit you have, the instructions should be fairly straight forward and easy enough for a beginner to do it, so why not do it yourself?

I installed my torque dampner on break as well, it was even easier than the grounding kits.

The HFC's are another story, but they shouldn't take more than an hour with a lift and the right tools.
