Question about Mid Pipe

Hey all,

So I currently have a g35 coupe mid pipe on my 03 sedan.. I was wondering if anybody either with a coupe or with a sedan has gotten the box in the middle of the mid pipe removed? I assume it's also called a muffler (Not the one at the end of the exhaust system, I have a magnaflow there). Im basically asking if someone has straight piped just their mid pipe? Does it change the sound at all? Does anyone have a sound clip/ video clip of it? And also will a car still pass smog without it being there and still having stock cats? Any response is appreciated, thanks!

I personally have not done this but I was also thinking of it and from what I have been told it will make the car sound raspy but to each their own

You are talking about the resonator, yes people have removed it, and yes it will make it louder. Quite often it will make it raspier too. Many people switch from the big sedan resonator to the coupe midpipe with a much smaller resonator.

Okay, so it does make it raspier?.. And I DO have a coupe mid pipe already.. I'm asking about removing the "resonator"? From it.. Do you know if it will still pass smog?

It will be raspier. It has nothing to do with smog though since it's behind the cats.
