Warm air through vent fix

I had the problem as many that warm air comes into the car when driving even when the fan is off. Well I have known this for a couple months and always keep forgeting to post. What you do is just hit mode and put the air all the way down you can always put it up if you like. After the car is warmed up cool air will come through without turning on the fan.

I think his fix is just to direct the warm air down,
instead of in your face from the vent outlets.

Does't really fix the issue.

FWIW
There is a DYI on this which seals the seams on the
battery box compartment to stop warm air from the
engine......
haven't tried it myself though.

If the A/C is not running, the temp on the display has nothing to do with the temp of the air coming thru the vents!

Exactly. This is the essence of the "hot air" problem: the system refuses to be controlled by the set point temperature unless the A/C is on. In fact, if you read the FSM, it states that the system should completely close the heater valve if the set point is at its minimum (60F). However, this also does not work (on those occasions when the "hot air" problem is hapening). So the only conclusion I've come to after lots of thought and experimentation is that there is a software/firmware flaw in the HVAC system that keeps the heater valve open when it should not be!!

madabs,

I need some clarification as I may have a similar problem.
The other day when outside temp was abbout 55C and I had my temp set to the lowest 60C with VENT set for FRESH outside air but running at the lowest 1 setting, it was blowing warm air maybe as warm as 70C. Does your fix help that ?? and if you can spell it out in a little more detail.
Thanks for your time.

Thumbs down infiniti blew it with this one

that is really the only beef i have with this car. the only way to blow in cool fresh air is put down your window(s). setting the temp to 60 only works when the outside temp is about less than 50. otherwise the air coming in is warmed above 60.

maybe infiniti wanted us to use the A/C all the time for some reason. pretty stupid and costs us mpg because the car is less aerodynamic with the windows down.

I have tried this when the temp outside was in the 70's it blows in cooler air. You do not hit the fan setting i was playing around with it last night. What I did was from one extreme to another I put it on 90, remember I am not hiting the fan button just mode, it blew hot air then I put it down to 60 cool air came out. I know the problem of having the hot air coming in I complained to Infiniti also but since I have been doing this I dont have it anymore.

I'll def give this a try when warmer weather comes.....
Right now we still have snow on the ground,
so cool air is def not an issue
