Hi I have an o3 sedan, just picked it up like 3 weeks ago and car has been great love it, yesterday going home the ac went out and the car started sputtering a lil bit, now driving it the car feels like it lacks power and doesn't sound the same as it did before yesterday. it's getting horrible gas millage now, I was told that it might be my bank 1 and 2 cam sensors would that really cause it to do that? any help or advice would be greatly appreciated....if you guys need more detailed info just ask i'll try my best to answer fully.

 

Did your SES light come on? It's a great tool to use to help you diagnose issues with the car. If it's on take it to a local auto parts store and have the code/s read. Then look at a chart for Infiniti like this one (http://www.troublecodes.net/infiniti/) to get an idea of what's wrong. You can also search through the Engine/Drivetrain thread for a specific code to get some more insight.

If it's not on you might want to try to pull codes anyway but any other way to try to diagnose a general issue like yours is like shooting fish in a barrel

 

yes my SES is on...just had my codes read and the big 2 are the CPS bank 1-2...have others like improper key, gas cap, and others that were cleared before I got the car... so would the cam sensors really cause the car to act up really bad? sorry I'm new to the G world and this motor.

 

Your g has 2 broken legs with the bad sensors, replace them ~100$ you can always return if they don't work.

 

I was looking at doing it myself $163.87 $76 a piece but 1 looks easy the other looks like a lot of trouble to get to... I don't have many tools with me in process of moving, is it better to take it to Nissan to be replaced guy quoted me $ 225.90 parts and installed...I was also throwing a code for 02 sensor but I cant see that causing me to loose as much gas I have been loosing. any thing else I should look for on that?.. already did the normal walk through of looking for leaks and stuff.

that's the first thing I checked last night when the ac stopped working but all the belts are still there....im getting a lot of mixed opinions o2 sensors will make car run bad cam sensors will make car run bad what if its both and that y it's running really bad...I have a speratic sputter here and there and rough idle now... had a nice tone to the car now it sounds distorted don't sound right and the power when u floor it was nice and now its like it strains a lil bit but will still move.

thanks for the link i'll go through it on lunch, but last night I took my car to my cousins house so he could read the codes with his machine and a couple of those codes I had are gone Nissan must have cleared them but I threw 3 new codes....... 1 was a random misfire so I went and changed my spark plugs to see if that helped.......next code was for closed loop circuit????? and other was 02 sensor.

 

There may actually be an ecm reprogram for the closed loop code which would affect the O2 sensor as well. The p0171 is a lean condition which could possibly be coming from an Mass Air Flow sensor starting to go bad, the p0011/0021 codes are typically caused from low oil level, and the p1610/1614 is a NATS key code issue. Hope this helps bro.

 

infinitidude thanks so much for the info really helps out a lot.....I figured out the NATS was coming from not having the original key, the owner lost the original and im using a home depot made one lol... where can I go to get it reprogramed so I can try to eliminate some of these codes and problems im having? and if the others are the oil then I will be doing an oil change very soon. sorry for the stupid question but would changing the spark plugs clear the misfire code or help it out some?
