Hello, I bought a 2006 G35 sedan about a month ago and the key fob it came with was broken. The electronic portion works fine but the locking mechanism when the key is inserted is broken so the key comes free easily. Is it possible to purchase just the OEM plastic housing and transfer the internals over?

 

You can find just the housing for about 20 bucks on ebay. It's really easy to switch over. Make sure you get the right year because it looks like some of the buttons are different.

Ebay is where i got mine. Bought a new remote, just used the plastic. The key and internals are somewhere....

 

Yea that seems to be the way to go. I did not find any shells/housing listed alone on eBay. I guess if the electronics fail at some point I can use it as a backup.
