Worth replacing?>

Hello
I have bought a set of coupe springs to install on my 04 sedan awd, now I figured as I was doing the work to remove the struts and install the coupe springs I should replace the struts also. I called the dealership to see if the struts had been replaced by the previous owner, they were not. So, I have 95K on the car, I really dont notice any problems now and the dealership said they very very rarely replace struts on the infiniti, only unless they are leaking or blown out. So am I wasting my money by installing pretty much the only struts made for this car, the KYB at a set price for 275 shipped. What do you guys think? Replace or drive it? also I will be participating in 6 scca race events this year.

For piece of mind, I'd replace the struts, especially if it's a daily driver that you plan to push hard at some track events. Even better, get a set of boots and new strut tops also, then you can build a complete setup and R&R quickly. You'll only need to swap the lower mount from the old strut to the new. I did the same last summer on my '06x, and am happy with it- new KYBs up front with coupe springs.

If you are doing the work yourself and short on cash you coukd stick with stock. If you are paying someone to do the work, it would cost you as much to buy shocks/struts as to have the work done. Then when the shocks blow you ended up spending more money. Basically, cheaper to do it right the first time.

R/R? can you explain? And the boots are the plasic sleeve that goes over the strut? Where did you purchase your parts?

R&R is remove and replace. You can build your strut assy. off the car with the coup springs and new struts/mounts. Then just remove the old assy. and install the new without having to break down the old spring/strut assy.

I have 140K and i'm going to replace mine this summer. Ride is feeling a bit stiffer than usually and I'm only now starting to get interior creaks and rattles.

I'm not changing springs or anything, but the KYB's were the brand I was looking into. The rears are cheap, so I was gonna order those now and swap them and then get the struts in a few weeks and do those.

I'll do the install myself.

stock shocks will not last long with lowering springs, you will replace them in less than 15k miles considering that you already have 95k miles on the shocks.
Might as well replace them with KYB.

As mentioned, R&R = Remove and Replace. Yes, the boots are the sleeve that goes over the strut, and the triangle-shaped piece is the strut top. There's 3 nuts that hold it in place from the engine bay side. I ordered the struts and tops from Rock Auto, and then sourced the boots from my local auto parts guy cause they had them in stock.

Great thank, an I don't believe such a mild drop will mean my struts will fail in 15k. Im installing OEM coupe springs, not very wild. But I'll be ordering the KYB tomorrow. Ty

Last time I measured, the coupe front springs dropped it about an inch up front compared to stock. I left the original X rear springs in my car, so the fender gaps are evened out all around. Here's a couple pics I took the other day.
