Is NAV worth it?
Is NAV worth it?
I want to get a loaded Pearl White/Willow G35 Sedan in NJ however I am trouble finding one with Navigation. Is Nav worth it? I like the scheduled maintainance reminder, if I dont get the Nav, is there still a scheduled maintainance reminder somewhere else? Thanks.
Re: Is NAV worth it?
I have had my Caribbean Blue Sedan w/Navi for almost 1 month now, & had initially thought it was just a gimmick, but have found it to be surprisingly useful, especially locating unfamiliar addresses, stores, restaurants, etc. I'm very glad I got it, though it was a pricey option. I expect to make a lot of use of it. Especially enjoy the automatic fuel mileage it also displays, and the way it can be hidden away (unlike the navi display in the Acura TL which we considered before buying the G35).

i use mine atleast 3 time a week and i have it for a good 5 1/2 mounths. It is so easy to use and there a lots of functions that you can use. I have my adress in there. I have it programed to keep me out of bad places. I have phone numbers in there. It is so nice.

I find it handy to have, too. No need to lookup an address on mapquest and print it out.. just hop in the car and enter the address. Plus it can find businesses by name.
No, no maintanence reminder without the nav. Of course, the nav maintanence reminder isn't perfect.. if you take the car in for some other type of service, and they have to disconnect the battery for too long, the maintanence reminder might reset.

Absolutely! Once you go Nav, you probably won't buy another car without it. I had it in my '02 Acura TL-S, and have it in my G.
It beats the he** out of stopping and asking for directions, or relying on Mapquest print-outs, which are not too acurate.
Plus, the Infiniti nav has many other functions and features, that are extremely useful.

anthonyg,
Which NAV do you like better? The one in the Acura or the one in the G? I spent several weekends trying to decide on which car to buy. Finally went with the G35 Sedan. I really like the touch screen on the Acura, however the G35 Nav seems more feature rich. The Acura also seemed to be better at rerouting you when you missed a turn. My evaluation is based only on few test drives with the Acura.

Re: Is NAV worth it?
You are correct, the Infiniti Nav has more features and functionality.
I like the Infiniti Nav better than the Acura. Now, at first, I had to get used to not having the touch screen, which is definitely easier to use than the joystick. However, I got tired of the finger print and oil marks that would be left over, after using the touch screen. Not too attractive.
Additionally, the Infiniti Nav has the Birdseye view, which is much better than the flat view of the Acura Nav. Lastly, there is many more functions on the Infiniti Nav than the Acura, such as: Quick stop, Average MPG, Maintenance remainder, door open reminder, and others (which I cannot remember at this time). Most importantly, the Infiniti Nav can be closed, so it's not always out in the open on the top of the dash.
