I have been hearing good things all around about the Avon Tech M550 A/S tires.
How many Sedan owners here have replaced there tires with these ??

avon tires

I would be interested to know as well since they seemed to be rated pretty high and higher than the pilot sport A/S (at 202 bucks a tire). If they are any good I can buy a set every year... at 460 a set compared to the pilot 808.

That is what I am saying. The price is right, the wear rate is good, and the performance seems to be on par with the Pilot Sports.
Just need some feedback from people with G35's, to verify it.

Hi. I will be getting these tires in 3 or 4 weeks. They rate very well and you can get 4 tires with tax, full replacement road hazard, dismount/mount, lifetime rotate/rebalance for around $590 and $530 with a pro-rated road hazard at discount tire--they will order them from Louisiana and install them on your car--They are made by Cooper Tires. Goodyear OEM replacements are $960--$1000 drive out with tax, roadhaz. etc-much more expensive.

I hope those that have had the tires for a few months can give an update as well.

Texan,
Look forward to hearing your opinion on these. Let us know if you will be getting the stock size or going a little wider with the 235/50-17 as many have done.

I put these on my sedan about 6 weeks ago. Bought from Tirerack.com and they are better in almost every way compared to the Goodyear RS-A that the car came with. The only negative is that the steering feel is a little softer when inflated to the 32-35 that most tire shops will put in. Make sure to inflate them to 40-42 PSI and they will be much more responsive. Wet traction is excellent, and road holding during cornering is as good as could be expected from a 215/55/17 tire. It should be noted that this is an all-season tire, so dont expect to drive like you are on the track and get track performance from this tire. If you live in a no-snow area, I would recomment the Tech500 summer tire. It it designed for more aggressive use. But the 550 at $109 ea. is a steal. You cant go wrong at that price.

ballisticus,

How did you get them at this price? Tirerack lists them for 128 now.

I just had a set installed over the weekend and I like them so far. The car defintely feels more stable and like it has lots of traction. At $501 delivered to my door, I couldn't pass these up. I also decided to go with the size 225/50/17 which someone else recommeded from aonther site.

Why aren't you using the Infiniti specified 30psi F/ 30 psi R recommendation. Even BMW recommends 28 psi F /29 psi R for their 3-series on 17" rims.

Did going with a 225/50R17 open up your wheel gaps? The reason I ask is the 225/50R17 is about .5" shorter overall than a 215/55R17.

The gap did open but it was barely noticeable. I believe that is was less than .5".

tire size

The tire rack web site said to use a 235 tire size when going from 55 to 50.

Sorry, I thought we were talking 235/50 size.
I just ordered M500s in that size. Tirerack.com seems to be an exclusive distributor of Avon in the US.
