Gting, I totally agree with you on the CAI issue. But I am curious, S-tech's do not increase the spring stiffness in the front over the oem springs very much at all and in the rear, they are actually 18% softer then oem. Is your sedan by chance a non sport? You are the only member with Tein springs of any kind on a sedan that has mentioned a decrease in ride quality that I have ever seen.

They should have got a 6spd if they wanted performance since the CAI and Borla are a waste of money. The S-Techs are a very rough ride especially with 19's to the point of a back breaking experience on certain bumps. They aren't very practical for a daily driver. What type of struts did you upgrade to? Did you cut the bump stops as well? Looks good in certain pictures though.
1) it is a stagger setup, the front of the G35 doesnt allow of an dish
2) it is 6spd
3) i agree CAI and borla are a waste of money
4) you have never rode in a car with S-Tech
5) everything on that car is pratical enough for daily driving except for the crap CAI and Borla exhaust

Check your e-mail...

Also, why are you guys saying those mods are crap? Have you ever been in a car with either of the two mods? Looks aside (as those are always up to the individual), they both make very reasonably priced and provide solid gains in horsepower, with dynos out there to prove that. If there's something I'm missing here please let me know...? I know there are other options out there, like Stillen, JWT, etc.. but we've put those on other cars and were doing something a little different this time, but I had no idea that these parts were viewed that way as they're pretty popular items and this is the first I've heard of any major issues?

Thanks!

Borlas never have great quality. the material they use and the welding is absoutly crap.
CAI are useless. putting the airfilter down the bumper isnt gonna add more horsepower. its just gonna suck in more dust and much greater chance of getting hydro lock. the OEM airbox is already a very good design. with a higher flow intake + Z-Tube it is a much better way to spend the money on the intake system.

i got the Z-Tube +K/N filter and Fuji Y-pipe + custom mid pipe and HKS rear
dynoed to be around 227 RWHP for a 03 5AT

I didn't realize you could get a 6spd without the aero kit.
The offset for the front rims should be smaller.
yes driven a car with s-techs.
5> agreed

I am sure the 04 will fit. Try to find some used ones and custom paint them (in entirety)

Waste of time and money.... Cost $85 for all for guards painted. or Pay $35 each guard and have to have them painted at least $100?

I paid $20 for all 4 of my guards used. And can get them painted for a lot less than $85 total. Guess it depends on the deals you work out.

The travel distance of the spring is the issue. You cannot lower a car as much as the s-tech and expect a comfortable ride especially if you have passengers let alone reasonable bumps on the road. Cutting the bump stops will help but the ride is incrediably rough (some back breakers even). Anyone who says s-techs give a comfortable ride in real world (non track) daily driving is simply mistaken. And in this case they left the stock struts on, probably cannot align to specs, and camber issues.

They don't, the car has a different side sill design.

Key point, S-Tech are not meant for off road use! Try rancho.

But for real, I've driven the car refered to in this post, & unless you have some very bumpy roads the S-Techs are pefect. I have owned a coupe & have driven several sedans both with S-Techs & Eibach coils. I would compare the ride in this sedan to that of the factory coupe (trust me there is a difference between the coupe & sedan suspension softness). The feel is almost exactly the same. It is a bit harded than a stock sedan but I think it a perfect upgrade.
