Windshield wipers keep crossing!!! HELP

Omg my driver windshield wiper is only moving 20% up the window before the passenger one comes and smacks the crap out of it. They are crossing in an X shape so I am of sure is it the motor or arm and how should I go about fixing this?

Thanks

First and cheapest thing to check is the wiper arm. If the are is not stripped or loose, then, the motor is bad or the arm mount is stripped. If you're mechanically inclined, go to rockauto to get the parts. It's the cheapest place I've found for things like this.

Here's a pic. Pull up the cap (marked 3) and make sure the nut holding on the wiper arm (4) is tight, Both wipers work off the same motor so if the passenger side is working then the motor is OK. Could be the mechanical linkage but more likely just a loose arm.

Ok I realized they are crossing because the driver side is not moving but the passenger moves just fine so I'm going to grab a small tool kit and remove the arm and see if its the plastic thingy in it is worn? Anything else I should be checking??? And thank u

^The piece the wipers attach to is lined with grooves. Should be easy to tell if that or the wiper itself is worn down.

I just put New Wipers on in may because I just bought the car so can't tell by the blade itself. I will check the grooves. I pulled up a YouTube video so will use that for help.

Ok so pulled it off and the grooves on the actual arm where the bolt goes inbetween is stripped to the point where it's almost smooth. I retightened it and it seemed to work but soon as it rained and it was time to really work, it slipped again..,,,

So my question is how do I fix this do I need a whole arm or can I just buy something to give me groves?? If so part number please..thanks

Hate to say if but you might need dealer help on this one. Just looked quick (not a deep search) and can't find the exact part you'd need from the places I usually buy... I would consider this "safety related" so it's important to get it fixed and the dealer should be able to do it.

If I were you I would take the passenger side wiper off and put the working parts on the driver side til you get it fixed. That way you'll still be able to use the driver side without interference if you need to.

I can't the problem is the threads on the arm are stripped and I think the pass blade is longer and wired differently.

I saw a post with plastic inserts that the bolt goes thru to recreate the grooves but can't refine the post. The pieces were only $13 smh
