Winter Tires

Hi All, I just got my G35 sedan, 6-speed. I am going to buy some winter tires since I just moved to Indiana and supposedly the winters here are fairly unpredictable. Ive never bought tires before so I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on good winter tires.

Thanks In Advance

Check out tirerack for reviews as they also do tests on winter tires. Indiana can get quite a bit of snow FYI.

Check the local craigslist for what might be offered this time of year. Your going to want 16-18" wheels for the best snow tire. Prefer Bridgestone Blizzak tires. They are the best and uber quiet.

I plan on putting the tires on my current rims. my car still has the stock 17 rims, so i was going to use those for winter tires, then get new rims and with summer tires for the summer. After doing a little research I am leaning towards the Blizzak WS80, tirerack has 4 for 528.

Buy those before the price goes up again. But, you may consider buying direct from a local tire installer that may waive the tire swap fees. Good idea on looking into some nice summer wheels. That's where my OEM wheels went .

I've done exactly what you plan to do. I put some Hankook IceBears on for a winter set on the factory 17's and have had excellent results. Bought some 18" Enkei Imolas for the summer.

I'm going into my 8th Chicago winter, I've gone through 2 sets of Blizzak WS series tires (WS50 and WS70) and they are great tires. I can imagine the 80s are even better. The OEM 215/55/17 is a good size for cutting through the white stuff.

Ive done one winter on dunlop ds2's on my 2004 5AT sedan rwd. Drove great. No complaints. Although an X still woulda been better for the heavy dumps.
Buuuut thats what the truck is for.

And thats a Canadian winter......in winnipeg.....the worst.
