Question New Coupe Midpipe or muffler

Which is better as far as sound, quality, and price- a muffler or the coupe midpipe? (I dont want to spend too much cash and get a catback). Remember I have a 4dr.

coupe midpipe will help out with the sound...ur exhaust will sound nice and deep like a 350z or G35coupe...u'll be surprised how heavy the stock midpipe on a sedan is when u take it off..

The coupe mid pipe will save you around 20 lbs. versus the stock sedan pipe. Plus with a fair number of coupe guys switching out their exhaust systems, you have a fair chance at getting a used coupe mid pipe [with low mileage / good condition] for a decent price.

I just ordered one from Performancenissanparts.com.

If your lucky you will find one local for pick up, if not, you will have to pay shipping.
I couldnt find anyone local to sell me theirs that didnt flake on me so I just decided to buy one new. Didnt want to take a chance on getting a used part from somewhere far and have something be wrong with it.

I will post my impressions after the install. Should be sometime next week.

My Infiniti Dealer wants to charge me $90 for the installation for the midpipe which I think is pretty steep. What do you guys think?

Go with the mid-pipe. Much more consistent sound. Just be careful of which y-pipe you get. Some, like mine, just make annoying noises!

I'm going to do it myself but I think $90 is about the going rate to have it installed.
I've seen others pay around $100 or a bit more so it doesnt sound to out there to me.

If you lived closer, id say lets do it...sorry I can't help from here.

Cool Do em' both

Being very limited with what I can do to the exhaust on my X (as in NO "Y" pipe avail) I tried the obvious and was VERY pleased. I coupled the stock Y to an '05 G35 cpe. mid pipe and bolted that directly to a Stillen single pipe rear and got, not only, great sound....BUT also the big weight loss of the frigg'n stock sdn. mid pipe. GOD what a pig! To be very honest...I don't know if I tapped into any extra HP, but I feel some improvement by the ever popular "butt o' meter". Cost ...apoprox. $450. and about an hour of work if ya do it yourself....EASY ta do.($150.00 for the Coupe mid pipe and $300 for the Stillen single end) JBX has left the forum

sorry.....I don't have what's needed to do the sound clip (besides I'm stuck in bed after just hav'n frigg'n hernia surgery..lol) But, what I can tell you is that it's a step up, sound wise, from the 05' Coupe. It's throaty with a pleasant deepness that doesn't "drone" at constant highway speed. It's definately not as loud as a full Stillen cat-back, but that gets real annoying after awhile anyway. And, best part is all you'll need to buy is the middy and gaskets. JBX

I got my mid-pipe installed for $40. It took less than half an hour.
