G35 and G35X same parts?

Hello
I have a 2004 infinity G35X the awd model. Automatic.
Having a hard time finding ball joints, compression arms, upper balljoints etc. Parts seem to be plentiful for the G35 RWD sedan. I am wondering if the two cars share some of the same suspension components. Some sites say yes, others no... any one know for sure?

The search function on this site provides fantastic results. Especially the advanced search.

The front suspension parts are different for the X. I bought new compression rods off Ebay for my X from an Infiniti dealer, you might want to try there.

FYI, only the rear suspension is the same on the X or regular sedan.

Search Nissan performance shops in your area on Google. You might have one and you can ask them. They usually have the hookup with an axle shop that can do your boots. If not search for an axle and/or driveshaft company and you might at least get a better than OEM price on a new one. Otherwise check your local auto parts stores if they offer a reman service for the front axles, some do.

Well it seems like the X's are starting to break down with the front suspension, just took mine in today and got a 4,000 dollar estimate for CV axle, lower control arms, swindles, etc. So i'm in some deep S*** it looks like.

I would really get a second or even third opinion. That is way overpriced. You can rebuild an X front axle for like $100. So that is about $200 right there including labor. Like I said before I implore you to find a performance shop or non-dealer, non-chain place to take your X's guys. I am not saying it will be a miracle cure but our cars need special attention.

If you can't find that, check your auto parts stores for a rebuild service. Generally I think it runs less than $100. You will be without a ride while the axle is out, so you will need to find a shop that can let your car sit. Tell the shop to give you the busted axle for the service core, then get the rebuilt axle shipped to the shop.

I have replaced my front axles twice and had the front right rebuilt three times. The driver once replaced or rebuilt usually has no problems again. The passenger however is a little demon. With that axle you need to tell the rebuilder to get good thick rubber boots and stretch the bellows a bit so they don't rub through friction, causing a tear over a short time.

Also if the car is 10 years old then just drop the cash on new bushings, bearings, what you can afford, and call it a day. Yeah, it might wreck you financially for a few, but you will be glad you did.

Yeah, I called my local shop that I've taken my cars to for general stuff for 5-10 years as I was pulling out of the dealers shop for a second opinion.

I feel you on the suspension woes. The only downside to the car in my opinion. When it originally came up I was dumbfounded that I couldn't just buy a new axle. I have since learned a lot about axles!

Try to get the stuff done in waves. Like get axles rebuilt (always rebuild if you can!!), set of bushings replaced, then another, then bearings, etc. Unless your car is about to wobble right into car heaven you should be good.

Ya, this is really the first thing I've ever had to do besides the occasional brake work. Had the car for 40-50 thousand miles, hasnt been in the shop once for anything at all.

I do my own repair work, so going to a shop is not an option for me just out of pride really. I've never gone to a mechanic and not going to start now.

I'm either gonna drop the $600 bones on a new OEM axle from the dealer, or just rebuild it myself.

But i've searched for weeks and cannot locate a rebuilt unit, or even a service.
