I haven't heard of anyone getting a build sheet.

In fact, I haven't heard of anyone even getting production numbers released from Infiniti. Would be nice to see how many if each model were built each year

I'll shoot them an email and see what they come back with.

Your vin tells you the details of your car including important packages. Look at an online VIN decoder.

One other thing. Monitor your oil level closely at first. The 3.5 has a habit of consuming oil...even the automatics in higher miles. Keep an eye on your dipstick and see if it drops as the miles rack up.

I'm using about 2 quarts per oil change...so now I always carry a quart and add it every 1k miles. Sucks...but oh well

OP
So you don't go through life thinking you got a "kinda light blue G", yours is Lakeshore Slate

And good choice too. This entire forum knows, but wont admit, it's the best color, like everrrrrr

I love the stone interior. Gorgeous black upper and dirt hiding lower.

Ok, so I am struggling with the price of the JDM unit for the radio...

I've found it one place for $325. Is it really that much better? Do people have pictures comparing the two? (JDM and Metra)

if I went for the metra, I found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Metra-95-760...item4ace61ef45

and for steering wheel controls I found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Steering-Whe...001095&vxp=mtr

Is there a cheaper price for the parts? and is that all I need other than the radio itself?

There's a few Metra kits, and the finish is different and so is how it matches to the rest of the AL trim

There;s this one too

I'd have to say the JDM one is better simply because it's as OEM as you can get without it coming from the factory. Aftermarket can only get so close.

Question about fuel, and opinions are all over the place, so I'm looking for real experience...

has anybody run regular in their tank all the time? I know that premium is "recommended" but is it required? I know for my other car, SAAB 9-5, it can run regular all day long, but there is a marked performance difference between regular and premium. So for normal day to day driving, wife fills it up with regular, but if we are going on a trip, or hauling stuff, or I know I'm going to be doing some hard driving with it, I put in premium.

The G35 on the door says "premium recommended for best performance" but it doesn't say "premium required." so just wondering if anybody has run regular as their normal gas, and what effect that has had?

I think it is the same with any car. But to help out a bit. I am running regular in my tank so far it is still the same as premium I haven't noticed much difference.

I run 89 in mine.

I've done back and forth mileage calculations between 89 and 91+ and noticed virtually no difference in fuel economy. The butt-o-meter can't tell a HP difference either.

I've never tried 87 octane though, but most of my 150K miles on my car was done with 89 octane. I know its only a few bucks more to run 91+...but meh. Lately i've been tossing in some tanks of 93 octane just for the hell of it. Notice no difference.

It's not like i road race the car. I commute to work.

Thanks for that. That's what I figured. I know a lot of people say "why did you buy a luxury car and am not willing to put premium fuel in it?" well I didn't pay luxury car prices and why when its not necessary. I'll probably follow the same rule as my saab, and put in premium when I know I'm going to be doing a road trip or hauling a lot of stuff/people.

I hate that statement with a passion. I hate how people assume that unless you put 93 octane in your car, or run synthetic oils in every orifice that will hold them, you don't care about your car.

I'm a mech engineer. I know what happens when you run lower octane in a premium "recommended" car. I know how the fuel and timing curves are adjusted to help prevent detonation. I know that max power requires the higher octane. What i also know is I don't need high octane to sit in 3 hours of traffic each day and barely exceed 45MPH.
