Intermittent VDC off, SLIP, and ABS lights

Hi,

Even though its the end of fall here, it's consistently below freezing, and this problem has started.

When the G35 self-tests it's traction control it is occasionally failing and the VDC off, ABS off and SLIP lights all come on at the same time. This will persist throughout the trip and all the features are clearly deactivated. The next time I start my car (hours later), it will start with the lights on, then self-test and the lights go off.

This has happened 3 times now, the lights are currently off, everything performs fine and since there's no light I can't use a code reader.

I've had the brake pads checked, and the front ones were replaced and the rear are fine. Brake fluid is fine. I changed winter tire sizes to 225/60r16 (within 3% diameter), but if this was the problem, wouldn't the lights be consistently on? This issue started about a month after I first put the tires on.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Past experience on a different car...

Is the freezing temp a direct factor? For example if it's under 32 degrees it always happens, but if it's 40 outside the car is fine?

The cause was moisture in the speed sensor. WHen it would freeze, i would have issues with the ABS.

All 3 times it has been below freezing. However today it was well below 32 degrees and it was fine, and it has been fine more often than not.

So I don't believe its directly linked to temperature, but I strongly suspect some sensor, if not the one you mentioned.

I had the same issue with VDC OFF, SLIP, and BRAKE all coming on/off intermittently. I noticed this happened the most when I accelerated... Today I added Super Heavy Duty DOT 3 brake fluid and power steering fluid to the correct MAX level, then I properly refilled my radiator and radiator reservoir with a 50/50 mix of extended life antifreeze. The Brake and power steering fluid were low, and the radiator reservoir was empty, as well as the radiator itself being low... After completing these actions, I took the G35s out for a test spin and none of the lights came on once. I will test-drive again tomorrow to see if the lights are staying off. The only problem I still have is the idle jumps a bit when stopped at a street light, but I suspect I need to reset the ECU and/or clean the TB's.
