love my 05X

I had the cam sensors replaced by Infiniti they gave me a 2013 G37 loaner. I didnt like the 37 at all! My X has better response and the layout of the cockpit is better. I hated how the power seats moved on start up and exiting the car. I love my first gen X!

First Gens do that too with the premium package, along with tilting/extending the steering wheel. At least 05/06 premium package cars had it.

I hate that feature too, but it can be turned off. It can be turned off in the new models too. It's turned off in my car

I like the location of the power seats better in first gen! No feeling for them. I dont know why they went to the common place down on the left side of seat. I also like the cruise control location better too! The G 37 is nice! First gen just cockpit seems like a better layout! I will never sell my X !!!!!

I agree about the seat layout. having them on the inside of the seats makes it so easy for me to adjust the passenger seat as well. I hate them on the sides.

I guess since Infiniti was a new manufacture in the states they had to have a better idea for control layout. My X is Serengeti sand metallic. Only listed as a color option for 2 years I do believe.I just love the first generation.

i had a 37x loan recently too. I'm not sure what to say about it, it didn't blow away my 05x with bolt-ons, 7speed is STUPID, always in wrong gear to me. I was forced to drive in S mode.

It was a decent car but if something was to happen to me G, i would look elsewhere. IS350, A4, 335x. Maybe another 1st gen since they seem to be $5-7k now for RWD early 1st gens.

I guess i might be in the minority, but I've driven in plenty of G37's lately and love them. I plan on replacing my '06 with a '12+ model at some point in the future

First gens are the best designed G. IMO. It is funny how it seems like Infiniti made the new cars with less performance than first gen Gs!

How so?

330HP vs 280HP? Akebono 14" brakes available on the AWD model.

Just curious to why you feel the older models are more performance orientated

Coupe, Premium package, sport suspension
I've driven the g37 and q50 as loaners. The later cars unquestionably have more power, and they're very noticeably stronger when you kick it at interstate speeds.

The difference and pleasure for me in my 06x over them is the "road feel." The 06 has a more solid connection with the road. The steering is not as twitchy. Call it my "butt dyno for handling." The sound of the 06 contributes to that feeling. The later versions are tamed down in the cabin.

But I suspect that in actual performance on closed course, a skilled driver would get better time out of the later cars.

Driving the 2013 G37 compared to my 05X. I gave the loaner a run like l drive my X. My 05X took off from a standing start was faster and stronger!

I answered the question. By driving the G37 on the same roads as my 05X. It was a direct comparison from driving it not reading specs and comparing them! Cant get a better comparision. Both are nice cars.l liked the feel of my 05X better
Than the 13 G37. I drove it around the same as l would mine.

After driving the 2013 G37 loaner I think the first gens have a better cockpit layout! The layout of speed control and stereo on the steering wheel is better too! Plus the sound of them is better too!
