My new front Timken wheel beering failed after a week.

Whats up guys ? So i did my front right wheel bearing about two weeks ago. I noticed the sound was back .I though it couldn't be , so i get one of my mechanic friends to drive the car and confirm . Mean while i return the old one under 30 day return policy on rockauto I just ordered a new one because i need the car running. Anyone had this happening ? i didnt hit the new hub with a hammer or anything i was being extra careful.

It happens. What was the failure exactly? Noise?

The one's I've replaced I dissected and discovered the inside race galls up, which creates the noise.

One of my front's is on the 3rd bearing, the other is still on the 2nd. Originals both failed at 70K miles. I think the first replacement failed around 60K miles later, the other replacement is at 85K and still going.

I think its weird that I have just over 200k on original wheel bearings. To those that failed early, are you in areas with snow? Thinking it might be road salt causing yours to fail and the lack of it for mine to last so long.

Mustang drives like a maniac, but he does live in the great white north too. I had to replace mine on my old Sedan at about 100K on the dot.
