Engine Noise at Highway Speed

The G35 is definitely not a Lexus in the road noise department. I personally would prefer a quieter car on the highway too. The only solution is to consider adding dynamat in key places just like the audio geeks do. As I understand it, the front doors, wheel wells, and trunk areas are prime locations to make improvements. Do a search.

Is there anything that can be done about the droney engine noise?
I went with the http://www.B-Quiet.com hoodliner ... it was only $65 or so. Does a great job of tuning down the engine noise ... installs in 5 minutes. I think our aluminum hoods do a great job of reducing weight, but increasing noise - so the hoodliner is a nice fix.
When I had my stereo upgraded, I dynamated the doors & trunk, and it's made a very solid improvement. Plus, no more rattles
