^You can easily find a rear diff for under $500. Labor should be less if you're not installing yourself.

 

Too bad you can't use this opportunity to change to a 3.7 ratio.

I don't even think there are any other gear sets available for front diff.....let alone labor costs and difficulty

 

How many miles are on your car? That's unfortunate to hear but like others said... You can find a used one cheap...

 

145k and a buddy of mine just ordered one with a 30 day warranty and he's gonna install it. yes too bad sigh*

ok I got it installed for $750 still an issue. Now they think it may be the center bearing of the rear driveshaft. SOL. Guess I gotta fix it till they really find the issue. Other than that I have an extra rear differential

 

For awhile my car been sounding like it had a wheel bearing noise from the front passenger. Fooled me. As we put on HFC this week my uncle spun all the wheels only to hear thump thump thump from the back wheels. He shook my rear axle shafts left and right and said Both the shafts are bad. They both had some bad play. So I'm a change the shafts out this weekend. The car feels like it sways left to right abit sometimes at high speed. When I roll in the driveway and make a hard turn it will thump some. Mine's a 04 too but coupe. So hopefully that a fix my problem. Good luck with yours too brother check the shafts too in case.

 

Ok so I took it to the stealership last week and they said they're pretty sure it's the transfer case but without an actual diagnostic and me paying $500 they wouldn't be able to find the root of the problem. Like I said I replaced the rear differential and recently the rear driveshaft. I'll be picking up a transfer case pretty soon. Hope that fixes the problem. I'll let y'all know pretty soon. There's no play on my rear shafts.
