Cleaned up headlights!

I used plastix a few weeks ago, but that wasn't enough, and it started to get back to being foggy pretty quick. So today I took a more long term approach.

Wet sand the headlights (220grit)
Wet sand them again (1000 grit)
Use an orbital buffer with rubbing compound,
then polishing compound.

Now cover up the areas around the headlight, and use some clear coat spray paint!
I still need to do a polish on the clear coat tomorrow, but for today, I'm very pleased with the outcome!

It actually turned out awesome, much brighter at night as well, no more fog at all.
Before(only plastx used at this point):

I always suggest UPol Clear #1. It is automotive grade and has a uv inhibitor built in. 2+ years later and mine are still clear. My car is 100% parked outside

BananaX, head lights look great! I suggest you follow this ^ advice for the clear coat since it's lasted two years also remarkable!

Great job. I guess it takes some ***** to go at them with the sandpaper, but the results look to be well worth it.

Looks good, but I agree on applying some sort of clear coat to protect your headlights from the harmful UV rays.

I did apply clear coat, UV resistant one, just not the same one mentioned here.

we'll see how long it lasts before needing another fix.

I followed original poster directions on left headlight, after 1/2 hrs of buffing headlight still have sand abrasive marking, using only rubbing and polishing compound took 5 min. and right headlight look as new... hope other have better results with sand papers than I....

glad it worked out for you. It seems to depend on how bad the headlight was to start. If it's a lite haze, you can probably get away with just the compounds. (or maybe it would be enough for even the worst?) trial and error.

You have to seal it again, with clear coat, or a similar application. Otherwise they WILL haze. I did mine every 18 months lol. Now it's been 3 years on my Honda.
