If you got the cashflow pay cash wouldnt you like to own the vehicle, not rent.

I couldnt forgive myself either if i bought a volvo.

Yep, paid $31,250 cash for my sedan in Nov. '02. Vehix.com says I could still get $27000 through private party. I think thats a little high, but even if I could get $26000, not too bad. But who's selling? It still runs and looks new.

I paid cash back in August 2002, $35,800 out the door
g35papa... shh.

my dad paid around $31k for my 2003 sedan (we traded in my prelude) back in october 2002. it was a graduation present for completing my master's in immunology and neurobiology. hehe, perhaps now you want a daughter?

and wow, i missed it when i first read this post, but $41k for a sedan? back in 2002, if the G sedans were selling at that price, i would have probably gone with the bmw 330 that i was also looking at.

Hell, I'm impressed people have that kind of cash just hangin around to dump all on a car. Hopefully it doesn't drain their savings account down to zero.

How in god's name did you manage to equate making payments on a loan to "RENTING"? Don't your Mommy and Daddy make mortgage payments? Does that mean that they're ''renting'' the home that you, more than likely, live in? Now if you were to say 'renting' and 'leasing' were on the same rung of the ladder, I would tend to agree. But, something tells me that you don't know the difference between financing and leasing, as demonstrated by your previous replys. ALSO, because of your apparent young age I was curious as to the means you used to amass the cash to buy your vehicle? Was it savvy "day trading", long term venture capital stuff, a lucky "ground floor" investment in tech. stock, paper route savings or what? Now, if the vehicle was, say, purchased with money that was "given" to you....I would have a hard time considering any opinions you have credible. Most people that buy these cars work long and hard to be able to afford them. Some others do it by achieving stellar academic accomplishments and are rewarded for their dedication, sacrifices, and effort. And finally, there are those who get them through the "silver spoon" program. It seems that these "few" are the most opinionated, least appreciative, and are prone to looking down their noses at anybody not in their "league".Where do you fit in? Forgive my curriosity, no offense.... JBX

G35girl readily admits her G35 came from Daddys money, but it's also obvious she has been working hard on her education. I was lucky enough to have parents that paid my college costs, but past graduation I busted my behind to create a career path that helped me afford a home and a few other nice things. Just hope you "ballers" are investing your cash in things that appreciate, like a home and investments, because your car is nothing more than an expense (although a very nice one).

Financed. I've got better things to do with lump sums that large. I would imagine the same is true for just about anyone in California (trust me a house is the best investment you will ever make).

I prefer owning real estate rather than owning a vehicle. Take your opinions about other cars to "Other Cars" section. The only thing I regret about buying our Volvo is paying cash for it and not using this money to buy another appartment.
