06 (1st Gen) G35 sedan to G37 IPL front conversion
Hello fellas,
I know much of you would say just to plain out buy the G37 if I plan to do such a crazy conversion, but please hold those comments to yourself. I want something different that no one has around. I love the 1st gen over the 2nd gen any day. I plan on keeping it til it blows.
Any way, I don't plan to do the conversion asap, but plan on buying the parts over time. I do have body shop experience, fixing fenders, pulling dents, priming, painting, etc. I have already painted multiple cars.
By just looking at it, I believe the below will be needed (but feel free to add any other parts I may need):
Radiator support
Driver side fender
Passenger fender
Grill
Hood
Front bumper
Driver headlight
Passenger headlight
Front bumper cover (IPL)
Bumper sponge absorber (the one under the bumper cover)
Custom fab work will most likely take place regarding the hood hinges and the fenders.
I was thinking of maybe fabricating the rear of the fender (the side that mounts by the door) to the g37 fender by cutting them appropriately.
Figured I'd share this with you guys.

Also, I will be painting the car another color after all the conversion is done.
The IPL looks much much wider. Not sure how its gonna work, but I could be wrong. It may just be the pic. Otherwise, there'll be some serious fabrication involved I assume.
I'm still checking to see if it can be done. I was really checking the width of the G37 vs the G35 sedan and it could turn out to be a factor all in all.

Anything can be done if you have the money and skill. Nothing at all will bolt up. You are going to need considerable metal fabrication for the fenders, custom brackets for the headlights, and bumber. The hood wont latch, so will need a custom latch. The front bumper wont fit at all, so will need to be cut and fiberglassed and reshaped.
This is 100% not a job to be attempted at your house by yourself, unless you are a very experience body shop worker. It requires professionals. Find a quality shop in your area and write them a fat check.
A member did a G35 coupe conversion on his G35 sedan and even that was a huge amount of custom work. This project will be at least 5 times as difficult. There was a member here that attempted to do a G35 coupe to G37 coupe front end conversion. Bought all the parts and then 14 months later, gave up.
Overall, I would put the chances of this ever happening around 0.6%.
