The fuel warning light goes on after approx. 17 gallons of gas have been used up and the most I filled up with is 18.5 gallons.

Has anyone run the G drier than I have?

I like to know how far I can go before filling up after the warning light comes on. In my last car, an 02 TL, my emergency range (as I call it) was 65 miles, then I'd get a few engine stutters. With the G, I've driven about 35 miles with the light on before losing my nerve and hitting the pump.

i have gottent he Nav to say i can go 12 miles till empty. that was a little scary for me. it was like 1 in the mrring and the stations were closed by me so i had to wait till the next morrning. i dont recall how much i gas i put in the next day but it was a lot.

I would never rum my tank that low . Who knows whats in the bottom of the tank & ready to head for your engine?????

Yeah, you definitely don't want to run your tank down that low. As the last post said, there's a good possibility that sediment from the tank can get into your engine.

Whether you run the tank low or not does not increase your chances of getting sediment in your fuel line. Your fuel will always be picked up from the same spot in the tank everytime.

Think about it this way, if you have a straw in a glass with one end to the bottom of the glass, whether the glass is full or near empty, you will still suck up what at the bottom of the glass, sediment included.

There is a reason cars have fuel filters.....

Don't buy into all the myths you hear, use some logic and reasoning and decide the truth for yourself.

I agree with Chinee on this one. Doesn't the G have a filter in the gas tank itself?

Anyway, my "best" is 19.58 gallons. The car was stuttering and I was sweatin' it.

There is a filter, and it will keep out sediment.

However, certain weather conditions can cause some condensation to form inside the gas take. Water floats on top of gas, so it's not a problem unless you suck the tank dry... and wind up sucking some water into the engine. The filter won't filter out water. Usually there won't be enough condensation in the tank to matter. But still... there's a chance it could be a problem.

19.58 gallons...wow! That's about a 50-mile emergency reserve for me, 20mpg x 2.5 gallons.

aye! the best ive gotten so far is like 16.5 gallons....the little orange light empty light always goes on, and whenever i fill up i only get to abot 16 gallons. im talking to infiiti about seeing what we should be filling up, mine just doesnt sound right

When the low fuel light goes, you still have a few gallons in the tank left, and in the case of the G, it would appear there's possibly as much as 3-4 gallons. Shouldn't worry....your G's fine.

Water will always settle at the bottom of your tank, water is a lot heavier than gasoline. I would not worry about it unless you actually pour a gallon of water down to your tank, because gasolines are better formulated now than 30 years ago. All gasolines have concentrad fuel treatment already mixed into them which absorbs any moisture that's in your gas tank. If you are really worried....try using STP Water Remover once a month or some other product

Ran my Sedan down to about 69 liters one time. That's about 18.25 gallons US. The low fuel light was on a long time, the Navi said 0 miles to empty for about 20 miles. I sweated until I discovered there was 1.75 gallons left. Not sure if the pickup would pump it out tho..........[img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]
