04 sedan Heater lukewarm air only?
04 sedan Heater lukewarm air only?
Hey all, not sure what to make of the heater not putting out hot air anymore regardless of the outside temp or inside temp setting. It blows warm air but even when the engine is at running temp it refuses to put out hot air and none of the dash settings seem to change it.
Maybe the thermostat is stuck open? but engine warms up in normal time?
I don't think its the radio module problem from that year range because all the ac controls and such work fine the only thing is the radio randomly doesn't work and drops out if its running for a minute or so with the key in the accessory position.
Any ideas ? I'm getting my butt froze off while it lags

Ok thanks , someone else suggested the air problem since they had done it before so it looks like ill be opening the bleeder valve and repeatedly filling the radiator and cycling the engine through warm cold until I get the bubble out.
So the other day I repeatedly filled the radiator and opened the bleeder valve but even with the heater on no coolant was flowing through the hose. I then purchased a 12" or so funnel and wedged this into the radiator filler and filled the coolant a good 8" or so above the heater hose height and warmed up the engine with heater on high.
Very few air bubbles came up and opening the bleeder resulted In a solid flow of coolant leaking out so I know I finally got it into the heater core.
However the heat is still warm at idle and hot under acceleration so I'm not sure if its a blockage in the heater core or the thermostat sticking shut but I still have to warm up according to the Haynes manual and pinch the hoses going out of the radiator and in/out heater to determine if the flow is there A and B if its hot coolant.

Start with a complete flush with water and new fresh proper coolant and a new radiator cap.
Do a pressure test and measure the coolant temperature after warm-up
You may need a new thermostat?

See page ATC 32 for a block diagram
The BCM, ECM, and IDPM may also be a cause?
Good luck
