clutch upgrade options...

Hi all

It's time to replace the original clutch in my 04 Sedan. 90k... not bad!

I want to keep it quiet and smooth, but I want to upgrade the "grab" of the clutch. Something that works with the stock flywheel.

Suggestions?

If you must keep the stock FW, go with an oem clutch. Odds are, you will need to replace the FW anyway as they are not machineable. So why not just go with a Jim Wolf Technology clutch pack?

I did a little legwork on the JWT. It looks great, but I am worried about losing OEM quiet and smoothness. Would that be an issue?

Stay with an OE clutch, new they'll grab just like you want! Aftermarket clutches are cool but I don't know of one that doesn't make some type of chatter or cause other issues...Gary

It's not an issue with ME, you mileage may vary.

Yes, you will have clutch chatter. It bothered me at first by now I don't even notice it.

The reason I went with JWT clutch was that EVERY part is replaceable. Even the flywheel has removable friction surfaces. Also, if I ever decide to boost it, it's good for 450+ hp. Yes it gives your leg a workout, but my wife drives it everyday if that shows you anything.

Besides the kit came with: Flywheel, HD pressure plate, clutch disc, TO bearing, pivot bearing, installation tool and a SS slave line all for less than $800.00 It cost me $400.00 to get it put in. A new OEM clutch job from the dealer is $2200.00 AT LEAST.

I can't believe this. I've called 3 different shops including a Nissan dealership to get quotes on a clutch replacement and all 3 have recommended to go with the JWT clutch and fly. Is it really the best clutch kit for the g and z?

JWT has a nodular iron flywheel that weighs in at 26 lbs. basically same weight as oem flywheel. So you don't have to live with the chatter of the 15 lb lightweight fly

Am I missing something? I'm only seeing 26lb units on JWT's site.

If you are going to sell it, don't get the JWT. Get an aftermarket "dual mass" flywheel and OEM style clutch. People that don't understand lightweight fly wheels and why they make noise, will be put off my the rattle. I don't even hear mine now I'm so used to it.
