G35x Sedan No Fuel Pressure

Hello Guys,

I've had my 2005 G35x Sedan for a few years and now I've upgraded to a 2008. As it turns out, in the midst of driving the 2005 to a prospective buyer, the darn thing decides it doesn't want to leave me and quits running - right in the middle of the freeway. I try to start it up again, but it just cranks and sputters.

I do a little research and decided to check the camshaft/crank sensors by swapping them out - same result.

Next, I checked the fuel pressure by connecting a gauge before the damper - 0 PSI, so I figure the fuel pump might be to blame. I checked the fuse - it was good, so it went ahead and swapped in a new pump. As I turned the key to accessory, I clearly heard the pump, so the fuel pump relay must be working as well. With it jumped, I cranked and cranked and cranked - no fuel pressure.

There aren't any leaks that I could find. My next step is to replace the fuel pressure regulator next to the pump. Could an open regulator cause no fuel pressure?

Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks!

How much gas is in the tank?

INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL
Make sure fuel pump strainer is free from foreign materials. If any are found, remove them

Hello -

The gas gauge says the tank is half full. I checked the tank and filter and didn't see any foreign objects.

Good catch on the gas tank - it definitely had fuel, however it may have been nearing the bottom. As it turns out, my gas gauge is stuck at 1/2 full (I've had the sender units replaced before). I put 2 gal in there and it fired right up (after I removed the fuel pressure gauge). The one I rented from autozone had the pressure relief stuck open!

Is this a bad sender unit again or can I can reset the gauge somehow?

Thanks!
