Looking for springs to improve handling.
Looking for springs to improve handling.
Sorry, new guy here I searched alot of threads and didn't find what I was looking for. I was curious if the coupe and sedan springs are interchangeable, and if any benefit would be had by putting coupe springs on a non sport sedan. If so does any one have any sport springs and shocks they are willing to sell for a reasonable price? Thanks in advance!
First thing I have to point out is to say, DO NOT run coupe or sedan sport suspension springs on non sport shocks. That being said, I do see your wanting to buy someone's sedan sport suspension.
Coupe and sedan springs are interchangeable and so are oem 350Z springs.
Your non sport suspension uses springs that are 10% softer then oem coupe springs and oem 350Z springs, remember that point. 2005 coupes with the sport suspension, use springs that are stiffer still, I'll know exactly how stiff they are once I can measure them and calculate their rates.
Here's something else you need to know. Oem coupe springs will lower the sedan 1/2". Oem 350Z springs will lower the sedan 1". I would recommend using Tokico D-spec shocks with oem 350Z springs vs. using the oem sport shocks, I tested the setup with the oem sport shocks and didn't care for how the car behaved when cornering.
Sedan non sport oem spring rates
283/308
Coupe (not a 2005 coupe with the sport suspension, sedan's with the sport suspension and 350Z oem spring rates
314/342

On these cars, man I honestly don't know. I only have 15K on my car, 14K of which is on the oem 350Z suspension. Reduced shock performance due to wear most often creeps up on us slowly. My last car went 100k before I really noticed that the rebound control was starting to go, but these are heavier cars with stiffer shocks and springs then that car had. On the flip side used oem suspension prices are suppressed to begin with, I don't see much room to drop price much more to account for mileage.
I noticed that you installed the Basics in another post you made. Can I please hitch a ride in your car? I'm extreamly interested in seeing first hand how the basics ride and drive, I'm only 2 hours from Sac.
