Help PLEASE
Help PLEASE
Alright guys, I know there's a policy against asking questions that have already been answered, but I've found a little bit of everything and a whole bunch of nothing, searching for an answer.
So here's the story:
About 2 days ago, I started up my car ('03 G35 Sedan), waited for it to warm up, then left for work. Right of the bat, no pick-up. None. And the shifting was so horrible, I almost cried. I rode it, SLOWLY AND STEADY, for about 1.5 miles before pulling over at a church, turning it off, and checking everything out.
No problem in sight, so I turned it back on.
Nothing.
It was fine, other than the service engine soon light staying on.
I went ahead and drove to work, no more problems for the day, and the service engine soon light eventually went off.
Next day, same. Exact. Thing.
Then today, I'm driving home from work.
Service engine soon light comes on.
I stop at a red light. Light turns green.
I give it some gas.
I go almost NOWHERE.
So I pull over, cut it off, chill for a few minutes.
Turn it back on.
No better.
I pull over, pull out the code reader (don't know why I didn't do thi sooner).
It pulls P1772.
Now here's the part where I guess I went completely brain-dead and I try to drive it home anyways.
About ten minutes of excruciating rough shifting and medium-high RPM's, and it starts to go even farther downhill.
So I pull over and decide to call for a ride home. When I shift it into drive I hear a slight thud.
Now my car is sitting at a Spinx in the ghetto and I'm sitting here trying to figure out if I'm looking at replacing/reprogramming the TCM or something easier... Or am I getting ready to drop $1,500-$2,000+ on a new tranny?
Anybody been in this situation before? Good results? Anything to help me sleep at night?
And yes, I know I'm an idiot.
