Has everbody wondered why when compare G35 6 speed even if V36 body to Porche Panamera 3.6 stock, the engines are pretty much similar G35 3.5L , Porche 3.6L. Only advantage is Porche has more torque 295 vs g35 263. but Porche weighs much more 4200lbs with driver, it is some 400-500lbs more than G35 and still can pull to 0-60=5.0.
But 1/4 mi. Porche 14.2(I have seen also 14.0) and g35 13.9 is only advantage.
Why Infiniti engineers could not pull from stock engine 295-300 lb-ft, makes me wonder?
If Porche is able so should have been Infiniti engineers been able? Also fuel tank of porche is 21 gallons + reserve 3gal.

Price point is different. Add $20K to the cost of each G to cover the engineering expense to design a more highly refined engine.
Also, you are comparing a mass produced engine that is predominatly used in most Nissan passenger cars to an engine in a top tier luxury make.
I really don't get the comparison? Who cares about the fuel tank size? Also, even if a 10 year old G35 sedan could race the Porsche and stay neck and neck with it...it's still a 10 year old G35.

As I understood VQ35DE and VQ35HR are according to WARD world top engines since 2002, does it means they are not refined? Can you explain your point specifically?
I guess it has direct injection that G35 does not have, but what about other differences beside that?

These engines when brand new still send a little vibration through the chassis that I always felt. That and the higher level of engine noise and vibrations exhibited during higher rpms near redline, are the reason this engine is no where near as refined as other cars. And when i mean engine noise I dont mean the popular VQ growl. I mean that the engine doesn't refined on the top end of the rpms.
Infiniti figured this out on the Q50. Despite the fact it the same engine, NVH was drastically improved.

What I had in mind was engine comparison and there it was similarity. Even from hi- tech engine from Porche the power is the same. all other aspects of course Porche wins. But question is why did not Infiniti used direct injection at VQ35DE or VQ35HR engines. And of course Infiniti could also use PDK transmissin with twin clutch option.I guess the base price of G series would have been higher and not been compartitive in its class.

Direct Injection in itself has many advantages and also some disadvantages. Now if you look into the new motor introduced by Nissan the VR30 this motor is direct injection along with turbo charged. Direct injection to reduce chance of detonation. From what I am forseeing is the VQ retiring out soon all together and Nissan pushing the VR into both NA and Turbo Aspects. Essentially, the VR is a upped VQ in terms of technology. The VQ itself is a pretty old motor by this time although Nissan has done what they can to keep it with the times. Time will tell how this plays out. But for the time, the DE and HR motors were pretty stout in their initial conception challanging their class of veichle.

Nissan had a direct injecrion version of the VQ25 and VQ30 known as the VQ25DD and VQ30DD. The VQ30DD is a pretty decent motor for an NA 3Liter V6. Im assuming the technology wasn't just ready for the US market when it came to emissions. You also have to understand that these motors came out late 90s into early 2000s so the tecnology was being further developed as time went on. You do have to give Nissan some credit for making the most power they could out of a NA V6 of its time.

I was very satisfied with VQ30DE not so much with VQ35DE.
But you are right time has gone by and many manufactors have turbo engines in their production. Lets se how well VR series is capable of compete in the market.
