Car Struggles To Start After Sitting For A Week
This has happened 2 or 3 times. My G35 is not my daily driver. I only drive it when I go on trips over 1 hour or just feel like having some fun. So there are times that the car sits for up to a week. 2 or 3 times I have gone to start the car after sitting for a week and it struggles to start. It starts right up, but the engine does not sound right. The engine actually shakes a bit and sounds rough. I also get a strong smell of gas. This lasts for about 30 seconds and then the car is back to normal like nothing happened. Any ideas of what I should check for?
PS Another weird thing which will be near impossible to explain.... There is a strange ticking noise coming from behind my glove box area which I never heard before. It's a pretty annoying noise that has some bass to it. I would say 3 ticks per second. I do not hear anything from outside the car at all. It does not make this noise until the car has warmed up. Seems to get a big louder the longer I drive. Also only does this when in idle. As I accelerate it goes away. Like I said this one is really hard to give a good explanation of because the noise is hard to explain.

I will check the fuel pump. As for the battery... It's perfect. I have even left a light on all night and the car starts right up. Plus the car starting is not the issue. It starts right up, but just sounds like the engine has trouble. Almost like something is clogged and then it smells like gas afterward, or has a combustion issue to get going. The engine actually has a shake to it for the first 30 seconds and then it's fine. On a normal start after sitting for one day the engine is smooth as silk. Only if it hasn't started for close to a week.

A car sitting for a long period of time probably loses some fuel pump pressure?
