Radiator replacement for a 2004 AT Sedan

It looks like my radiator is showing sign of a slow leak, with coolant on top of the rim. I called up a local stealership and the radiator alone/part only is $750. What makes it confusing was he has 2 part# for the radiator for 04 AT sedan and he would need my VIN# to know which one would fit. Obviously, for $750 OEM, I'm looking for an after market one. I been searching around the forum and found this Spectra premium CU2455.

https://www.amazon.com/Spectra-Premi...eywords=cu2455

Can you let me know if this Spectra CU2455 would fit or which brand and part# of radiator you installed that is a perfect fit/no modification needed? I have a 2004 AT Sedan/bought in September 2003. thx!

My advice is head over to rockauto.com and look there. I replaced my 05 sedan's (5AT) radiator (Denso brand) and thermostat from them and together the 2 were $93 shipped total. Fit like OEM and car's running great. Took just over an hour in my carport. I LOVE rockauto, have bought a lot of parts from them over the years and have never been let down.

I'm in the same boat. I just ordered a CSF radiator Today for $90. I'll have it in a few days to see how it (fits CSF 2983).

I was originally looking at getting the Denso part# 221-3421. But there are several threads in this forum, stating that Denso did not fit.

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...-04-sedan.html

This will be my first time changing out a radiator by myself. Hence, I'm looking at getting an exact fit replacement. I checked the MFG date on my car and it was built in June 2003 for a 2004 AT sedan model. If anyone out there can provide the brand/part# info, it would be much appreciated.

Taget350z, thx for posting, if you don't mind, after you have installed yours, can you provide some feedback?

Definitely. I'll take some side by side pictures as well. I'm looking for a direct fit (including fans as well). I've been looking for feedback on how the fit is with fans but haven't found much . Hopefully this can yield some feed back for us so we can cross some of the options out there off the list when it comes to direct replacement.

Radiator

Check this one out. I ordered and installed it for mine 3 years ago. I fit no problem, still works just fine, and I believe it may even be the OEM part based on numbers I found on both old and new .. and it's only $75 on amazon

Thx si_driver. My 04 AT sedan comes with the fan clutch (I believe). The fan is running off from a pulley share with the alternator belt (the big belt). Is your car is an 04 AT sedan with a fan clutch? It looks like the TYC has the same part# as the Spectra I was looking at and even cheaper!

Feed back:

My first concern was the figment of fans: They actually did fit. The radiator fit.

However, the spaces for the condenser on the radiator did not fit too well. Also the bolts That connect the radiator to the condenser fan do not even match up. This was CSF 2983.

I found it difficult to attach the radiator to condenser ( this was still connected). Now I've done this probably 10 times before on other vehicles.

Verdict: surprised the fans fit. Disappointed about the condenser fitting. As for it being a direct fit, I'd say radiator fit, but in the end you get what you pay for.

Thank you for the feedback. This is not encouraging news for a someone like myself who have never done a radiator installment before. I guess I can cross the CSF 2983 off from the list of perfect fitment. It looks like it is a slow leak on my radiator so I guess I will bite the bullet and go with the TYC 2455 radiator and hope for the best in a week or so, if no one else chime in.

Jamisxc,

The whole replacement process is pretty easy however remember that this engine is very hard to purge correctly. It does take some time to get all of the air out etc so be very patient.

You have want to search the forums and get some tips for purging ..

Si driver,
Thanks, I have replace the coolant 3 or 4 times before and removing all the air pockets is no easy task like you said. More questions: Does the fan need to be removed to take out the radiator? I'm assuming I need to remove the steering wheel belt (big belt) first before removing the fan? Also, I searched and someone posted it is easier to remove the radiator from underneath/bottom (easier) rather than pulling it out from top? thx!

fan

It's been a while. I am pretty sure that I have removed the fan, but don't remember removing any belts and didn't have any problem removing the radiator from the top.
