anyone get a TSB done for free lately?

Our cars are old and even the newest 1st gens are 10 years old now by service date.

All recalls are obviously free because the inifiniti screwed up and its a safety concern. But TSB are not, its just often they are performed under warranty so no one really notices.

A TSB is a known fix for a problem, but infiniti isn't under any obligation to do this for free unless under warranty.

I'm asking because i have a sporadic side airbag fault B1129 which I've found to be a wire harness on our airbags, this IS NOT related to the crazy airbag recalls everyone like honda and toyota is having.

This is something i would bring into the dealership and talk to the service manager about and hopefully he can "goodwill" warranty my harness but its a 50/50 shot here. I just haven't had the time to drive there just yet.

Just wondering if anyone has luck getting TSB done for free lately.

Infiniti has a 10 year warranty on airbag related problems last I checked.

Odds are he's well past 10 years...

Unless his '05 was held over and didn't sell until June of 2006. Highly doubtful though.

There was an airbag recall for the harness under the seats. Have you had that service performed? It would be free under the recall campaign.

If unrelated, then yes you would have to pay for service like anything else. People seem to assume TSBs are ways to get free service, but they're really just designed to assist service technicians. Basically along the lines of "hey guys, we've seen this odd problem and here's the suggested way to fix it - IF a customer has the same issue."

Are the parts available to DIY fix the harness issue? I'd rather not go to the dealer for service...

Probably. I'd have to check my warranty invoice to see if they listed a part number for a replacement harness.

That would be fantastic. My dash looks like a Christmas tree!

Ive had my recall campaign done. The original fix was zip tie and silcone the harness together. Which obviously failed in my case but the updated one to that had a whole new harness spliced in.

I completely understand TSB VS recall, as stated in my OP. I'm not asking for a free meal but it seems to me infiniti dropped the ball on this repair TWICE. I just want to fix my car so i dont have B1129 show up every other week. Plus working airbags is always a GOOD thing.

IIRC there is more than one harness down there. Is there one that visibly goes to the sensor? I really worry my airbags won't go off.

No worries, as long as it's coming sometime it's cool with me. I'm surprised you still have that piece of paper! Old school

I keep all my records and receipts. I still have oil change receipts from my first few changes.

In hindsight it was all for naught as I pretty much drove the car til it blew up. Currently shopping it on CL to see who wants to give me the best offer for a parts car.

Tried to find it, might be interested in some parts... haha. You're probably looking to get rid of it all in one shot but I need a passenger side inner and outer tie rod...
