7 minute drive home, overheated, steam and coolant everywhere!
On my short drive home from work, my car overheated today and after pulling into the garage I noticed it was steaming a lot. I didn't notice my temp gauge until I got into garage.
There was coolant everywhere, I had a whole trail of coolant I left from pulling into garage. I let the car cool then popped the hood. Checked all hoses and seemed good. I refilled coolant and went for a short drive. I overheated after about 2 minutes and pulled off. When I popped the hood, coolant was pouring down the passenger side of the radiator.
Tonight I pulled the intake, coolant resv. and fan assembly out. I checked all hoses and they seem fine. I cant tell where the leak is coming from but I plan on putting in a new radiator assembly tomorrow. I dont know what else to check. Has this happened to anyone else?

I really hope it's not the water pump or even how to find out if it is....I'm hoping that after I replace radiator and the thermostat that it fixes my problem.
Back to provide update and closure to this thread:
So I ordered a new $88 radiator and cap from rockauto but then I realized it would not be here until Tuesday or Thursday so I would have had to wait for it before I could replace it.
I called the shop up the street and they told me $675 parts and labor out the door. I told them I had my own nissan thermostat and gasket but would use a radiator they provided and I would pay cash. We went back and forth eventually down to $575 to $525. I told them I would pay no more than $500 Cash out the door because weighing pros and cons it was worth about $500 to me and they came in at $495.
If I waited for radiator I would have needed to rent a car at for the week and wait for the radiator, then find time to do the labor (again I'm in real estate so even a day of downtime could lose a potential deal for me.)
(Sunk Costs: Nissan Thermostat and Gasket $36 Total)
Doing work myself:
Radiator and Cap $88
Coolant $50
Rental Car $225 + TAX
My personal Time and Labor + ~$363 TOTAL
Shop Charges: (I dont have invoice in front of me but I think this is what it was)
Radiator and Cap $180
Radiator Labor $130
Thermostat Labor $165
Misc. Shop Charges/TAX ~$20
Includes 3year/36K mile warranty on parts and labor $495 TOTAL
SO For a difference of $132 overall and a warranty on parts and labor, also getting my car back within 7 Hours...I'd say it was a pretty fair deal overall. Anyone have thoughts on this??

I had my 03.5 sedan's mechanical fan Break, one of the blades broke off and hit my radiator causing it to leak, bought a sunbelt radiator from fleabay, for about $50. Got to my house in like 3 days replaced it in about 2 hours, the hard part was burping the system. I just got my fan in on Saturday about to install that, haven't purchased the fan shroud yet, I believe the fan shroud was cracked causing it to hit the fan and the fan broke from it causing the blade to crack the radiator.
Only bought the cheapest radiator because my cash flow is tight right now.

I had a somewhat similar situation w/ my G last spring. My radiator blew and I replaced it with a Denso from Rock Auto. I also replaced the radiator cap with another OEM one and my G has been running strong ever since. I'm not sure if you even need to bother with the thermostat.
[QUOTE=tiguy99;7063937]When I bought my 6mt sedan last year I ran into same problem with in 5 days of ownership.
Replaced the radiator and didn't have any problems even up until I sold it.
Had about 123k[/QUOTE. Which year sedan did you own? I'm curious as to what replacement radiator you bought ( have a g35 sedan 6spd 2003).

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

In the last month I bought a Denso OEM replacement radiator and thermostat from RockAuto to fix the G and total with tax and shipping came out to $93. Took a little over an hour to replace both and the rad fit perfectly. Local Firestone quoted me $691 for replacement of both with new coolant and labor included. Yeah right...............
